How can you be bored?
Jump to: Newest in thread
So over my time here on fab I have seen a number of people saying in their status' they are bored. How is this so? Surely in this day and age there are any number of activities that can be done too prevent this.
My main concern is though, are these people themselves actually the ones who are boring? Can they not entertain themselves? It's for that reason that I don't bother to even engage with them. Even if their photos look good and the profile itself is reasonable, seeing the words "I'm bored" in a status is a turn off.
What else in a profile or a status update could turn you off an otherwise inviting fab member? |

It's usually the warning klaxon that that person is a drama diva and has neon lights where their nipples should be with the words "look at me" written on their forehead in bic biro. |

The problem is with so much entertainment at our fingertips, sometimes we just don't know what to do! I'm OK; I read, or binge watch box sets, or lark about on here, but that's not always satisfying. And I always suspect those who put that on their status are doing it to get people to message them. Can't blame them, really. |

I've yet too see said neon lights and biro scribbling, it may be a good look for some if they are failing to gain traction on here. |

It's quite a leap to say all people who, from time to time, get bored are boring people. I wouldn't use that personally as a filter of the rest of the profile was appealing and matched my requirements.
However, if they said it DURING a meet, THEN I'd be worried! |

"As I used to tell my kids only Boring people get bored!
Not sure about those who are board though...planking might be the answer for them "
This is my point, if you can't entertain yourself how can you entertain others? |

The profiles I have seen the words "I'm bored" on say it a lot, so I'm mainly referring to these people. |

"There has been much written about boredom leading to creativity. I think the problem is that it only works for those who don't seek others to relieve their boredom for them.
"
The mind is a wonderful thing, if you open it up and let it take over then it will push you to do things. Creative or otherwise. |

"And I wouldn't trust anyone who said they've never been bored. Friday afternoon work meetings, anyone?"
There's a difference though between being bored and you'd rather be somewhere else I think. |

For your work, I can see that might be an issue. On the rare occasion I call a meeting on a Friday afternoon I do everything possible to make it enjoyable.

"I love being bored! Procrastination for the nation "
6th of September 2017 will be Fight Procrastination Day. I much prefer National Procrastination Week. It was in March, but I was busy with work that week so I put it off.

Maybe...
The main thing I do is make sure it finishes at least 15 minutes early and then everyone thinks I'm the best chair in the World!

"I suspect they just do it in case some hot lady reads it and then says, 'since you're bored and not going anything, let's meet now, faf"! "
I actually have noticed it's women who mainly post about their boredom. No offence to the ladies present in this thread of course. |

If we've ever said we were bored, it's really just been a way to say that we're currently online and we can probably message back quickly.
Among other things I listen to a shit ton of podcasts and watch a lot of YouTube so being bored isn't saying I can't find anything to do, just that what I'll likely be doing isn't going to be as fun a good chat on fab with the potential to lead to more. |

I suppose for me, the word bored comes across as negative. There's other ways you could say "I'd like to do something fun" |

I roll my eyes whenever I read a status or message that says, "I'm bored" or similar.
Anyone over the age of circa twelve human years old shouldn't say that in my book. There is always something to do. Even if you don't want to. How can an adult with their freedom and sane mind be bored? |

I've been in some work meetings that have been mind-numbingly boring. Even the old 'I wonder what they look like naked' or 'imagine those two having sex' games lose their appeal after a while!
Similarly I've had some spectacularly dull waits for delayed airplanes in an airport and even a book or puzzle book can't relieve the tedium.
So you know what, I'm calling bullshit on anyone, male or female, who say they've never been bored!
I get it if someone is *regularly* bored. But it's a natural human 'thing' to be infrequently bored isn't it? We can't all be constantly entertained all of the time ... can we!? |

We can't stand the "Should we leave or rejoin?? Membership expires in X days, give us a reason to stay" status.
Crying for attention. Very similar to "I'm bored".
Fab is what you make of it, no one is here to give you a reason to stay or to cure your boredom.
We much prefer positive posts. |
