Score the wood chip with a Stanley knife then the steam will penetrate the paper
still a bugger to get off though
Feel your pain just had to do nearly a full house of the stuff nearly put me over the edge

"Move house
Another good tip - I just found £175,000 down the back of the sofa too!
Perfect timing!"
And there I was, about to spend it all on sweets. |

My tips are:
Get several long handled scrapers from the pound shop so you got new sharp blades.
Try getting it off dry. Sometimes when you can leaver up enough to grab hold of you can pull off a long length.
Maybe it's just me but I haven't found steamers very effective. I found it easier to get a large sponge and a bucket of water and wet the paper. Let it seep in and repeat the process.
I would hang anyone who uses wood chip.
Good luck. |

Thank god I'm here.
Firstly, you need to stop whining. That's just going to make things worse. Then just knuckle down and and get it done. Maybe use some tissues to whipe away the tears. |

"Isn't artex worse?
was a joke"
Artex can be good once the paper is off...a nice combed pattern and not a stipple as that would take you back were you started |

And as the dust and dirt settling on it truly highlights the textured quality of Artex. |

Keep telling yourself, "It'll be worth it. It'll be worth it." Because the feeling I got when it was done was intense. Now every time I look at my smooth walls I get a fizzy. |

"Feel you pain my ladt house had in every room took me 6 months to get it off and the ealls were that bad undernearh ended up plasteting it in the end"
Some of it was put straight onto plasterboard by the previous owners, so those walls will need a skim. Thankfully one of my best mates is a plasterer, and a bloody good one at that.
