why waist size on bloke

Trousers on a bloke are measured for waist.
Yet I've never known any bloke who wears trousers at waist.
I've always worn mine at my hips, one for the extra trouser length needed  and two because if above edge of hips...I'm giving myself a wedgie? Trousers tight up ma crack...cock on display in trousers, and ball restriction
While I understand in the fashion world...blokes now wear round hips or below, but what I don't get is why size is actually based on waist still.
Also if your a bloke..

I doubt anyone wears them on their waist. Your waist is your Bally button, whose trousers reach their belly button?
I guess it could be from time with braces, trousers were higher then. Or Bill the Butcher times in gangs of New York, his trousers were quite high. |

Ive always understood the waist to be about an inch above the belly button. All my trousers sit more on my hips. |

Does it really matter when 1 pair of 33" length are dragging the floor and the next pair are skimming your knees....
To the extent I tried on one pair of jeans, they fit pretty well so I said to the assistant that I would have 6 pairs the same, got home put on some jeans... didn't fit! All 5 that I didn't try on in the shop had to be taken back. All wrangler same style and labeled the same size. Makes me angry to have to go shopping once, but to then have to go back and change stuff

See bud this was my point. I wear mine at hips. If I pull them up to my waist..haha well ain't no room for nothing and well it just looks ridiculous
Yeah I've seen really old men with pants pulled up round waste but they tend to look like on day release from the mental hospital.
I don't get that are blokes on here saying wear trousers at waist |

Hip sizing is measured lower, around the widest part, across the bum cheeks. The strip of material at the top of the trousers is the waist. You can button it up as high or low as you want. |

Yeah, uses you're a certain age then trousers/jeans generally are worn on the hips. Older gents pull them higher, while the baseball cap wearing oiks wear them lower. |
