i just found out today the killer bee was man made by crossing the african bee with european bee

Also known as the Africanised honey bee according to various websites but crossed with a few more than 2 types of bee

There is no such thing as a killer bee, there are some people who have an alergi reaction to a bee sting, who may die from it, but the same is true of peanuts and no headline has ever branded peanuts as killer nuts.

The Africanised bee has a distinct difference in its death through stinging people it gives off pheromones, this attracts aggressive behaviour from others in the colony, who follow the pheromone trail and sting again, amplifying the pheromone trail. So if you get stung once you may get stung repeatedly this increases the toxin sometimes to a fatal level. Which triggered the media panic name of killer bee.

With proper protection a bee keeper won't get stung, so mass attacks don't happen.

The intervention was partly due to the centuries of inbreeding creating a perception of week colonies prone to illness, they made a mistake! The apparent current thoughts on preventing colony collapse is to breed bees that keep good hygiene I the hive.
