I've seen this once or twice on profiles, especially women who block men single men from messaging. But how many of you are actually actively trying to find someone? Or are we all putting out adverts and profiles but no-one is taking the first step to mail. Are we all scared of having the message delete/unread?
Probably aiming this question to men more than the women, but when was the last time someone seemed genuinely interested in getting to know you, rather than receiving a FAF? |

Funnily enough MrB, I've been chatting to a lovely lady that has this on her profile. I'm flattered that she messaged me and now we're friends I genuinely think that those that do say it mean it. Happy days  |

Other than forum members I have only been messaged by men...oh and one couple who unfortunately were perfect other than their age.
And none of those were anything interesting other than what you'd expect to be sent.  |

I have recieved a few lovely first messages based on my posts, chatting away happily too!
Apart from that, one other message from someone local.

I generally message people I like or want to meet. I tend to ignore most of the initial messages I get unless something really catches my eye. I'm not shy in coming forward so to speak and might add that line to my profile |

Happened to me once!
within 5 minutes of signing up and uploading my first pic, which was of my face.
The lady messaged to welcome me to fab, because I looked like her ex!
Few hours chatting on here followed by chatting on WhatsApp, several hours of fone calls at night, constant texts during the day, adding on fb, really getting to know each other and discussing meeting and what she wanted me to do with her, only to be messed about the day before meeting and being blocked on everything! What a week that was!

Mine doesn't say it but I do message first. Usually on the back of a forum post or seeing them in chat. I rarely browse profiles. I probably should, I need to start mixing with the locals! |

Ours says 'single guys we will find you' but we don't filter them out, I find that generally we get messages that are just nice and friendly and if they're not I just delete

Quite often actually but I tend to slow the convo down and stop chatting as a self destructive streak in me can't quite imagine why anyone would want to. |

We have something along those lines on our profile.
When we're actively looking, we do just that. I like doing the searching (and if Mr agrees) we send a message, much more fun.
Most of the men, we've met have been through us making first contact.
Our skin is thick enough to handle rejection/ a deleted message.

I only look for single guys myself. It's really hard though because I want something specific, and with very little info on their profile it's hard to know who to message |

I spent a long time deliberating over whether to send messages. It's a tough call, especially to those in the forums. You don't want to look like you're desperate but at the same time you'd love to make contact without the whole place reading your thoughts.
I really began to understand at that point how tough the men have it here.
It really makes you feel quite vulnerable and open to being rejected |
