Obviously as it's what the market has decided he should be paid.
Likewise half a million for reading the news? Nice.
It might not seem fair, but then life isn't!
I earn more than others that probably deserve more and I earn less than others that I should probably earn more than. C'est la vie. |

Wages for some professions are poor some are fair others are extortionate . Premier league footballers film personalities and tv radio personalities get the going rate their personal value has been estimated as to attract customers/viewers . Their wages will drop as their appeal goes . |

Oh I like him, but I may be slightly bias as a fellow ginge
I think he does quite a lot for charity too, he also hosts the most popular breakfast radio show in Europe and has around 9 million listeners, I think that must qualify him somewhat for a nice wedge. |

Apparently these figures are for last year so they include his wages from top gear, but also he has had his annual pay rise as well so it may be more or less now..
And also doesn’t include money from their own production companies |

"Whether he is worth it or not that what they are prepared to pay him. "
The "we operate in a market place" is of course cobblers. Just imagine if doctor's where to take the same line ' Well you're going to die in the next hour if I don't operate - make me a decent offer to save your life or I'll walk away.'
There's dozen's of perfectly competent people who can read the news or spin a few discs for £50K a year. But of course the BBC management wouldn't be able to justify their huge salaries either then. |
