I only fucking did it!
Jump to: Newest in thread
It might not seem much to a lot of you but I did something today I never in a million years thought I'd say I had done.
I jogged.
Now, I've played sport for a lot of years in my more youthful days and I was pretty good. Running/jogging was never part of it though and has always been something I'm crap at.
I got my belly out in a non sexual activity. I basically knew I was gonna look a bit of a twat to anyone who spotted me but I did it anyway. I like to be good at what I do, I know wee all have to start somewhere bla bla bla but I really can be impatient when it comes to personal performance.
I wasn't great, but I took a massive (small) step into overcoming a few fears and improving my health. I am pretty proud of myself.
When did you last push yourself out of your comfort zone? |

Brilliant news! Well done - slippery slope to your first half marathon now and then London calls
Last time I pushed out of my comfort zone? I entered a room full of relative strangers the other day. Pretty much all of whom had seen my arse but not my face |

Oh go you! That's really good and your pride is well deserved. I hope you got suitably sweaty in a don't give a fuck way. Have you seen the This Girl Can campaign? It's been really helpful in getting me a bit more active and fit.
Last time? When I actually decided to open up to someone about things. We're now dating so I haven't scared him off.

Yay, well done OP.
When I first joined the gym I was terrified. Despite having already lost well over 3 stone I still weighed over 18 stone. I was very self conscious and thought everyone would be judgemental and would stare because I was fat.
I couldn't have been more wrong, they all just wanted to help me learn how to use all the equipment and were so encouraging. |

I did get sweaty and it felt like I was "home". I've not got sport sweaty for years. (I used to play ice hockey)
I've seen it but always turned away coz it'd make me feel lazy and guilty for not being active!
See, getting out of our comfort zones can bring awesome stuff. |

I wish we lived closer together, I'd come with you. I bought a new racing bike and go out on my own down country lanes where there isn't too much traffic. I'm slowly getting more confident and haven't fallen off yet although the bloody potholes are going to get me one day!
Keep up the good work.....if you get really good you could sign up for a small charity run or something like that?

Wow well done that's brilliant. You should be proud of your self.
As for me I tottally failed at running today. I use to be really fit done a few half marathons and done one full marathon. But since then had kids, got lazy and put on a huge amount of weight. The last 4 months I have been back in training and for a month I now run 3 miles nearly every day.....apart from today. I didn't even make it a full mile (half a mile in fact) before I had to stop with stupid amount of pain in my calf. Just wanted to cry. So now feeling sorry for my self and going to slam my face into a chocolate cake tonight.
But will be back out running soon as the pain is better and feeling less frustrated with my self. |

Haha you will get there in time. It's taken my a while to get to that and I'm still no where near how fit I use to be. But I guess persistence is key and when you see your hard work paying of it gives you the motivation to keep going.
Unless you have just had the same sort of gym session as I just had then a large chocolate cake, a glass of wine and a good cry is needed to regain focus haha xx |

Yesterday I (Mark) went to K.F.C for the Kids and Ali. Got what they wanted then came home and had my Ham Salad, It was hell but I'm pleased I passed the test and stuck to my diet. It's good to share the love and positivity. People can be miserable sods at times and forget you can find joy and inspiration in the most unlikely places. Being brave doesn't always mean saving someone from a fire or being a soldier. It means doing something that has an element of fear, regardless how insignificant that fear may seem to others. We all have our own, they all differ. Respect, good will and karma |

Nice one OP.
It reminds me of Friends when Phoebe was running with her arms and legs flailing around. Rachel was embarrassed but Phoebe said it doesn't matter what those people think- running this way is fun and you'll never see them again. That's one of my motivational thoughts.
(Hope you know what I mean- I'm not saying you run like a mad woman! x)"

Well done you ! I started running the same way and you will soon become addicted if you carry on Hun. Put your earphones in and stick to a plan. Don't just go out and run, walk for a couple of K then run for 2 mins then walk. Build your pace up don't worry about your distance.

Don't over do it but your legs will probably be sore that's natural. But make sure your stretching and walk yourself in first. And the first few K can be the hardest so just keep going and remember to not rush!

I've spent the week on an evening in the garden with my new toy...an MMA punch bag.
Probably look a right pilock trying to be rocky but it's good for the fitness levels.

Well done you, you will find it self perpetuating and you will start to push yourself harder and achieve more.
As for comfort zone, the last penetrative dive I did a few weeks ago kinda tested my nerve when my torch failed and plunged me into total darkness.. Fortunately u wasn't too far from my dive buddy..
Finally... I've found a thread where I am able to use the term "penetrative dive", been waiting weeks for the chance to do so.. |

I've spent the week on an evening in the garden with my new toy...an MMA punch bag.
Probably look a right pilock trying to be rocky but it's good for the fitness levels.
I WILL lose that last stonne "
You will! I want to lose another, but it won't bother me how much I actually weigh, I just want to tone my wobbly bits and have something to focus on. Something worthwhile. |

"It might not seem much to a lot of you but I did something today I never in a million years thought I'd say I had done.
I jogged.

I can't afford a gym or personal trainer. Thanks for the heads up though, something I will keep in mind x |

"Well done you, you will find it self perpetuating and you will start to push yourself harder and achieve more.
That must have been terrifying
And as for the words penetrative dive hahahahhaa wooohooo! |

Last time I pushed my self out of ny comfort zone was two weeks ago. Never been happy with my body or my manhood (it's not THAT small but...) so decided to go to a naturist campsite for the first time. Nerve racking at first but it was so friendly and non-judgemental. Gave me a lot more confidence |

I've entered a half marathon on the 1st of October - started panicking when the 100 day countdown email came through a few weeks back - it seemed such a good idea back in January!
I've managed a couple of parkruns (free 5km runs) which are brilliant - why did I never do these earlier!?
There's also couch to 5km apps for your phone and other running apps. The people at parkrun are really supportive and friendly and I'm now going to join the local running club - plenty of socials
Anyway, good going OP and everyone else in this thread making an effort or thinking about it |

You want to make your tiny self even smaller? There will be nothing left of ya
I thought of another. I decided to do a certain dance move... no music... sober... In a restaurant with people around me. |

I've had the couch to 5k recommended to me last night. I'll have a look on my phone to see what apps I've got on it.
Half marathon though, check you out!! Think of how proud you'll be once you've done it! big well done to you |

Now that is in my comfort zone, I'm happy to make a tit of myself like that. I can't dance for shit but I don't care. Attempting to run on the other hand.... gawd, made me feel sick before I did it!
Proud of you |
