So, I had a restart. I now have a bit more wisdom over the ways of fab. I've kept more of myself hidden as the attention was a bit overbearing last time. I have stricter filters and a new "Mean Bunny" ruthlessness when it comes to messaging/interacting.
If you could go back to newbie you what would you change or what advice would you give? |

Nice to see you again.
I would go back and be the person I am on fab now, then. I think I spent far too much time being nice and explaining why I didn't want to meet certain people when now I see that that is time consuming and if I've politely said no I don't need to explain myself |

I am also in my second incarnation here.
The first time around my skin wasn't thick enough and to be honest I wasn't ready and took myself too seriously.
This time round I'm not anxious or anything. I am here for a laugh, I have no expectations and anything that develops from here is all well and good but I am more about the smiles and I spend far more time on the forums.  |

No I wanted rid of the people who had hotlisted me. Even if I changed name etc they'd still be following my profile. |

If I was coming back with a new profile I’d certainly change my name too ...
Otherwise I’d have hidden the profile and rejigged it whilst on a sabbatical ..

If I restarted, I'd have more name changes for the year to have fun with for a week or so. But I don't think I'd do anything differently -- what I've done has led me here. And here is a place with some good friends and dear people. Here is good, albeit nerve wracking. |

But you'll pop up in searches still, local people and such. If you were in their hotlist then, you'll go on their hotlist again.

I had a reinvention about 18 mths ago. I left the site as pink mist. Came back after a couple of months as _yldstyle. Not sure what I've done differently. I've never had the bombardment of attention either way. |

I agree. If you're not keen on the attention I'm only trying to help from what I've experienced over the time I've been on here, hope it comes across that way
BH aside from the fact that you're an attractive woman your age alone will attact an awful lot of attention.
If you take your current avatar, check how many fabs it's had in a short period of time for a nice but fairly tame photo, indicates you're on quite a few hot lists already. Upload something sexier and bam it will be winging its way to the top.

I don't think I'd do anything differently if I was a newbie, when I first joined I didn't actually meet for about 5/6 weeks.
However I'm just me, sometimes I have to watch my words on the forums to avoid holidays but that's it.

In a previous profile incarnation as a newbie, I posted a face pic ....without ticking private only. So it was public until a friend pointed it out. I still wonder who may have seen it and blown my now very private profile cover.
Oh and secondly...be more robust in using the block button and moving on when a little grief comes your way. |

My last time here, I lost myself in trying to be all things to all people, trying to get as many meets as possible and generally seeing "Fabpopular" as the way to be.
I burnt out in a blaze of glory and was forced to take a 3 year break. It was dark times.
This time around I have identified what went wrong and have put my happiness and wellbeing foremost.
I also have little intention on meeting (not unless we really really click) so I am not concerned if people like me or not.
I hope you find things better this time round and can use Fab how you want! |
