Morning peeps.

There, they're or their all mean different things.
Or should Fab add a spell checker?? |

But your original post, suggested that you felt some people needed to go back to school for their spelling deficits. Hence Seeside's defensive post. |

I forgive errors due to predictive text and those who are dyslexic.
But when someone cant be bothered to read back a message before replying and I havent a clue what they are on about I just dont reply. Then if i get questioned about why I am not replying I say I dont understand what you wrote. They are usually apologetic and so rewrite their message. Its not difficult but if you really want to have a conversation with someone you intend to meet, then you best make yourself understood in the first place or that meet wont be happening. |

You would only need a comma after "spelling" if there was a list of three or more items, eg: spelling, cakes or grammar . |

My spelling is very good. Some people on here have poor spelling for various reasons. If I need a Rosetta Stone to decipher messages that person will not be for me.
Would I start a thread which aims to belittle others? No, I wouldn't. If anything doesn't appeal it's easy to ignore without being an arse. |

"If you don't know the difference between 'there' and 'their', your an idiot "
Not sure someone could be called an idiot for mixing up 'there' and 'their'. Are many factors that come into play here. Dyslexia for one. So if ones dyslexic ones an idiot is that what your saying?
Then as others have pointed out. Most devices from tablets to phones, changes words from the word you put to something else. On small screens it can be difficult to read over what you have written to check for mistakes and if one is dyslexic, it is very easy to 'miss' the word the phone changed by its own doing.
Are lot of people here that go on about spelling etc, however it really has no bearing on how intelligent or not intelligent a person is, especially given the 'English' language has been so eroded over the years and will continue to do so...an example of this would be the white British man is becoming a minority in UK. Five cities we at now I'm sure...that English language is the least used and British man the minority... so the English both written and spoken is being eroded slowly in society anyway.
Are schools at primary levels in Uk...they only person who actually speaks English is the teacher.
Is a school in glasgow..that has a class of 25 kids, 9 different languages, no English apart from teacher...and Glasgow is a place of high british numbers compared....with say non British speaking Brits.
It appears to me on here a lot of those who bring up spelling on profiles...well they appear a bit 'thick' themselves, when you look beyond their Fab presentation on here

See its the phone. I wrote 'the' yet the phone has changed it to 'they'.
I missed it in my return read, but it has been pointed out to me
What's it actually matter, if people understand.. what the person is saying.
I'm dyslexic.. I was laughed at by other kids all through school because half way through English class, a teacher would come get me and take me away to a special class for dyslexia... however the others in that class, mostly all more intelligent and interesting than those that laughed.
I'm sure things are different for kids now at school. Would like to think better progress has been made for dyslexic kids, but I used to have extra time during exams and spelling was not taken into consideration on any exam paper including English.
That helped a lot and kinda given was quite a few extra time kids in exams..makes me think...spelling is a load of crap and it don't really matter anyway |

The problem with spell checkers is that they only check that a word is spelled correctly and not whether one is uding the correct word. So, for example, if using 'your' instead of 'you're' - which many people seem to do these days - a spell checker won't flag up an error |

There are quite a few that need to get a life! Don't like that someone can't spell or (heaven forbid) allows auto correct fuck ups to enter into their text? Then don't interact with them! if it really drives you mad then find a different forum. Maybe a spelling and grammar forum would be more your thing. There's no need to belittle those that struggle with spelling. Imo. |

Spot on, it's very unusual to get a message that I can't understand simply due to bad spelling.
Some of the people I've met over the years have had appalling spelling. Funnily enough it didn't affect their performance in bed therefore was irrelevant. |

If sentences are indeed constructed. One continuous long passage without either the humble comma or full stop is a bloody nightmare.
Apart from previous paragraph, everything else is pretty easy to work out. |

Yes I hold classes in hotels, 1 on 1s.
First we start with vowels....aaaaah. Oooooh. Ohhhhhh. Etc..... "
That's vocal coaching; phonetics. |

Not really. Often it's spellchecker that turns correct spelling in to different words.
Also, knowing the difference between 'their' and 'there' hardly makes you an intellectual powerhouse. |

"luckily I'm just fucking the people I meet and not giving them a spelling test
Good for you.
Enjoy the illiterate. "
Oh believe me I will. As I've said before being dyslexic makes for creative thinkers. This skill works in my favour for naughty sex. Enjoy the spelling test sex... sounds fun |

my grammer is good enough to get me what i want out of life,so iam happy
as for spelling my phone and other devices have claro.
i do not see it my place to question or correct someones level of education, also it may just be atypo error or lazyness in spelling or using the incorrect grammer. so i do not bother to give it a second thought, as long as i can read it i am happy |

"Morning peeps.
Is it just me or are there quite a few who need to go back to school to learn to spell on here.
There, they're or their all mean different things.
Or should Fab add a spell checker??"
Seems like schools don't teach spelling any more. As long as peeps get their thoughts down on paper, spelling and handwriting don't matter.

If I knew I needed a degree in English then I would of done an open university course
Oh my probs is commas etc never know where to put them or full stops to be fair so good luck reading my stuff
And breathe
I'll get my coat and post elsewhere "
You break up sentences with use of paragraphs. This is a great help. |

I'll apologise now for my spelling, grammar and not being a grade A student.
Not everyone has the same abilities, most are academics and some are not and that's me.
But if you think you can do my job better than me then you can lick my arse and then prove it.
At least I don't see text speek on there, now that is a struggle to read |
