Just watched short film, on after Kurt Cobain, where "famous" people have their views on street art...my view is it's just graffiti and if caught the culprit should be prosecuted, what about you? |

Without doubt some of Banksy's are thought provoking, the one of secret service people listening drawn around a telephone box is excellent, but they're still painted on people's property without permission. (I'm ignoring the reputed price of a Banksy)

There's a disused underground station in London quite near the Eye where people are allowed to graffiti. I took my kids a few years ago, they were fascinated by some of the artwork there |

I like it. Art is expression in any form. I'm a huge Banksy fan. One thunk I noticed when I lived in Germany was the amount of graffiti /street art there was...nothing offensive but just everyday objects had a little bit of expression on them.  |

You can’t say banksys stuff is thought provoking whilst putting other pieces down..
Banksy doesn’t get permission first but where he does paint his art it’s usually somewhere run down that would benefit from selling it |

You can’t say banksys stuff is thought provoking whilst putting other pieces down..
Banksy doesn’t get permission first but where he does paint his art it’s usually somewhere run down that would benefit from selling it "
I didn't, some of the ones I've seen like the one I mentioned I said we're thought provoking.
Suppose the defining question for all is: Would you be happy if the side of your house was "tagged" without your permission by a "nobody artist"? |

Banksy doesn’t get permission first but where he does paint his art it’s usually somewhere run down that would benefit from selling it

It's a creative form of expression and open for the world to see - it changes the landscape/ cityscape... pieces that galleries may not choose because of their selection processes and prices means some art does not reach us.
So this form means the people choose what they like not what the curators of the art gallery want.
