Got a packet of wine gums but the words on them say.

Cider

Rum

Port

Cognac

What happened to the wine ??

Why are they wine gums ?

From a bored Jane.

What else can you think of , that the name doesn't make sense.

Don't get me started on wine gums ... they don't taste like they used to, *and* they've gone all soft instead of having a proper chew to them. The 'mouth feel' just isn't the same!

Don't believe everything you read,

It says Typhoo on busses but they don't sell tea bags.

Sports Mix are far better, very chewy.

Shock... i don't think Wine Gums every contained wine... as we would know it anyway. I do love a wine gum. Maynards are pretty good, home brand Morrisons (northern supermarket) all good but probably M&S are the creme de la creme of wine gums.

Have you got some sort of cheap knock-off or 'value' wine gums? The bona fide versions should have either port, sherry, champagne, burgundy or claret on them. But over time maybe they've become bastardised with other alcoholic drinks but that's certainly where the name originated from!

That's what I was just thinking.

I've always found the term 'Cordless screwdriver' somewhat confusing.

Before I owned an electric screwdriver of any description, none of the 'manual' screwdrivers I owned had cords. They were all cordless.
