I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that human society and civilization is far older than we are lead to believe by popular main stream archaeology

with the discovery of Gobeki in turkey pushing back human society and civilization to over twelve thousand years ago is it time to re think our perceive history as a species....?

the only way the human race will go extinct is through one of two ways in my opinion ,

nuclear war or meteorite strike both can be adverted or survived if we put our collective minds to it,

there is evidence that we have survived meteorite strike all ready the last big one that caused mass extinction happened around 12500 years ago when a massive meteorite hit the ice cap covering north America cause the end of the last ice age and was a extinction level event .

I agree that it will probably require a natural disaster to trigger the demise of the human race before the earth burns, but on a time line of evolution the recovery rate of pockets of humanity that might survive such an event would struggle to overcome the obstacles longer than dinosaurs which to date were a far more successful species than humans.....

according to time yes dinosaurs existed for millions of years but there is evidence out there of the human race being far older than we are lead to believe by main stream archaeology. think human civilization being hundreds of thousand years old instead of mire 10 to 15 thousand years .

as for the dinosaurs that's so long ago that nearly everything we know is guess work and all the bones ever found are only a fraction of what probably existed during that time due to how rare a event it is for bones to become fossils .

its guess work in my opinion due to not being able to study any think other than bones very old bones that can only give us so mush information about a species anatomy not behaviour , so what we know is based off of guessing that is proven by the fact only now do we now know most dinosaurs where covered in feathers , something we have only come to believe in the last 20 years or so .

we are talking so long ago in time that even if a advanced intelligent dinosaur built a city we would never know due to the world changing so much since then and time braking down through weather and geological means any trace of its existence one way or the other .

depends where it hits the one that put a end to the dinosaurs didn't wipe of crocodiles turtles frogs toads or the early mammal's or other species it wiped out over 90 percent of all life but omnivores survived in large numbers .

the one that hit the north American ice cap around 12500 years ago was just as big it broke into three pieces in the atmosphere and brought a end to the last ice age and most defiantly change human history maybe even setting us bad to the stone age again .

There is a huge scientific article, cant find it to link to it soz, but the gist is this...

We are going to bake, starve or fight ourselves to death as a species if we don't stop global warming in the next 100 years.... or less!

The ice caps, or more specifically the permafrost, hold masses of carbon dioxide, and methane, and between the two, as they defrost, they lead to a huge increase in global warming.

The methane can in fact speed up global warming by an estimated 86 times!!!

Large parts of the equatorial regions can only sustain human life at the current hottest temperatures, a rise in 10 deg would make huge parts uninhabitable/unworkable. Seas could rise 10 metres (60% of the worlds population live at an altitude of 10 metres above sea level or lower, with a marked increase in the aldino effect (reflection/refraction of suns energy) due to shrinking ice caps. (Baked).

Certain crops only grow now in areas which have reached the correct temp/weather for a growing season, these areas will shrink, and be pushed further north/south, and the globe in these areas doesn't have suitable soil types, meaning smaller harvests, more expensive food, and this is coupled with growing populations (Starved).

With the two above comes a natural migration of people, leading to border conflicts, territory exploitation and financial re-distribution (Wars).

The experts disagree with the political will to reduce global temperatures by 2 deg by the end of this century, citing research that says that we need to reduce by AT LEAST double that, (some research suggests a target of 10 deg reduction) in order to stabilise the current status quo.

We are all doomed, doomed I tell thee!

you can laugh all you want but here's the facts if the human race was wiped out tomorrow do you think any trace of us would be left in 200 million years from now no nothing but dust and possible a few fossils is all that would remain but nothing we have built would remain of that there is no doubt.

hundreds of millions of year think about how long that is all the nuclear waste with have produced will not even be recognisable as a bi product of nuclear fusion once that amount of time has passed .

What we should be looking at is what point did these civilisations die off...why did they suddenly stop and die off.

If a civilisation over 12000 years old were still around imagine how technologically advanced it would be now. We look at our current calander 2017, so its been at least 2017 years since some one started counting this time around.

Now look at our youth in comparison generations bought up in the 50s onwards. In the last 60 years we have made huge jumps, most of it from our abilities to work a problem. Where as todays youths will simply "google" the answer rather than work it... So are we reaching our peak?

If you want to hear a crack pot idea, some guy at work was telling me that humans don't come from Earth and we travelled here after the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs.

His reasoning was that sun burn and a bad back proves it.

if a meteorite one mile wide hit the earth tomorrow we would be reduce back to the stone age overnight and in 5 thousand years everything we achieved would become legend , ten thousand years mythology and so on .

there is evidence out there that this has already happened to us as a species in the past in my opinion .

goggle the Sumerian tablets if you wish to be shocked by a different history of the world than one taut at school written over 5000 years ago

are they a fairy tail mythology or a true account of a past long lost who knows but one thing is for sure these questions should be asked and researched if we are ever to try and know the truth about humanity .

who's knows if that's true but think on this primate 48 pairs of chromosomes humans 46 .two off our chromosomes have been genetically fused into one by us in the past through genetic manipulation something modern science has just learnt to do or by a outside influence who knows just another mystery waiting to be answered by science .

This is still quite a contentious hypothesis with lots of contradictory evidence on either side but plenty of claim and counter claim by the scientific community.... That's without adding the conspiracy theorists and the moon landing deniers to the mix...

nuclear war or meteorite strike both can be adverted or survived if we put our collective minds to it,

there is evidence that we have survived meteorite strike all ready the last big one that caused mass extinction happened around 12500 years ago when a massive meteorite hit the ice cap covering north America cause the end of the last ice age and was a extinction level event .

I agree that it will probably require a natural disaster to trigger the demise of the human race before the earth burns, but on a time line of evolution the recovery rate of pockets of humanity that might survive such an event would struggle to overcome the obstacles longer than dinosaurs which to date were a far more successful species than humans.....

according to time yes dinosaurs existed for millions of years but there is evidence out there of the human race being far older than we are lead to believe by main stream archaeology. think human civilization being hundreds of thousand years old instead of mire 10 to 15 thousand years .

as for the dinosaurs that's so long ago that nearly everything we know is guess work and all the bones ever found are only a fraction of what probably existed during that time due to how rare a event it is for bones to become fossils .

lol I know the thread is titled crackpot theories but c'om dude what we know about dinosaurs is hardly just guess work ....lol

You're doing humanity a disservice there

its guess work in my opinion due to not being able to study any think other than bones very old bones that can only give us so mush information about a species anatomy not behaviour , so what we know is based off of guessing that is proven by the fact only now do we now know most dinosaurs where covered in feathers , something we have only come to believe in the last 20 years or so .

we are talking so long ago in time that even if a advanced intelligent dinosaur built a city we would never know due to the world changing so much since then and time braking down through weather and geological means any trace of its existence one way or the other .

"

They can't 'prove' many things. They can only propose theories.

Funny when new contradictory theories turn up and they go quiet.

This is still quite a contentious hypothesis with lots of contradictory evidence on either side but plenty of claim and counter claim by the scientific community.... That's without adding the conspiracy theorists and the moon landing deniers to the mix...

"

its basically proven by the fact there is a geological PT layer all around the planet indicating a meteorite impact, the same evidence used to prove a meteorite impact put pay to the dinosaurs .

that proof was denied for over twenty years until they found what's left of the impact crater in Mexico and out in the sea down there .

the reason they are trying to say it didn't happen is because no impact crater has been found but its now believed it hit the north American ice cap which explains the sudden climax charge at that exact time and the change in sea levels that occurred at the same time .

"possibly tomorrows truths .

so I love history ,science , and the unexplained and I have a open mind .

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that human society and civilization is far older than we are lead to believe by popular main stream archaeology

with the discovery of Gobeki in turkey pushing back human society and civilization to over twelve thousand years ago is it time to re think our perceive history as a species....?

I think it is ,

Are we talking crack pots or crank pots, because the two are quite different indeed "

the waters are muddied by people like David ike and the like but a simple bit of research shows there is far to much stuff ignored by main stream science which allows for profiteering by people looking to sell books with fanciful ideas in my opinion .

Brighton - even Hove!

You can tell a lot from fossils so it's not just guesswork, 200m years from now gold and diamond rings will still exist...

There's a book called 'fingerprints of the gods' by graham hancock which provides compelling evidence for an advanced civilisation prior to the Egyptians, e.g. Water erosion on the sphinx - could only have happened 10k years ago.

A lot in history doesn't add up,and a lot of that is down to religion rewriting history to suit its case.

Few earthquakes volcanos and a bit of global warming and our digital footprint will be nicely oblierated, pockets of humans may survive but will return to hunter gatherer status with limited technology and fading memories.

Lack of impact crater does not mean it did not happen... But there is other contradictory evidence like lack of an iridium layer but there is a Platinum layer and irregular shaped tectites rather than the teardrop shaped ones expected...

Now all these things can be explained was it a comet rather than meteorite or an certain type of meteorite... Etc, etc...

Both sides of the debate all say more research is required be for this can move from a hypothesis to an evidence backed theory...

So at the moment it is still only a contested hypothesis...

Though I admit it is probably a likely event as there have been many and will be more ELE's throughout the life of this island earth...

"No evidence of an advanced intelligent dinosaur building a city......!

Priceless ........

you can laugh all you want but here's the facts if the human race was wiped out tomorrow do you think any trace of us would be left in 200 million years from now no nothing but dust and possible a few fossils is all that would remain but nothing we have built would remain of that there is no doubt.

I'm pretty sure some of the non corrodible oil production deep hole liner embedded miles down under the sea floor might survive ....

But hey maybe not eh!

hundreds of millions of year think about how long that is all the nuclear waste with have produced will not even be recognisable as a bi product of nuclear fusion once that amount of time has passed .

we are talking a stretch of time that is inconceivable to the human mind. "

.

Depleted uranium is man made and scattered throughout the place, its half life is around 4.5 billon years or the exact same length of time as it will take the sun to swallow the earth.

Ie it will be detectable forever for anything that might follow us!

Gobekli tepe hasn't really introduced any dates that were in contention prior to its excavation. Plus I think it's a bit of a strech to use that site as evidence for civilisation, even when using Gordon Childe's outdated 'markers' for civilisation.

I also resent the term "are lead to believe" like archaeologists goals are not to find truth in the material record. If you want to get in the field and do some plan drawings for 8 hours then be my guest.

Heye have a scheduled collision with another galaxy before the sun goes red giant on us, collision with a sun or strong gravity source screwing up the orbit... going to be a wild ride before we we burn
