Another thread about fruits inspired this thread. I love fruit in salads. I love fruit sauces/relishes with meat too. Are you a strictly savoury only and the fruit should only be for dessert or are you like me - happy to find the odd bit of fruit creeping in.
My fave salad is rocket with parma ham, slices of fresh peach and parmesan shavings. Whats your favourite salad recipe or fruit and savoury mix? |

Okay this is mine and it would be for one so just multiply the ingredients if you have guests.
Hard boiled egg sliced, small can tuna, 4 new potatoes quartered, handful of tinned kidney beans, handful of green beans (can use frozen quickly steamed)
Dressing is just 1 part vinegar to 3 parts oil, squirt of lemon, teaspoon of mustard salt and black pepper.
Arrange all of the ingredients on top of really crispy lettuce like cos or chinese leaves sprinkle with the dressing. |

Most traditional salad ingredients are fruits - tomatoes, peppers, cucumber etc. Beetroot although not a fruit is really sweet.
I love pomegranate seeds in couscous |

Fishy salads are good for me. Prawns or smoked mackeral, bit of sweet chilli sauce, pineapple and orange slices.
I prefer crunchy salads, such as lettuce hearts, spring onions, radishes, tomatoes, beetroots.
Homemade coleslaw and potato salad with hint of fruit too.
The thing about salads is that you can experiment. Anything goes, you can add nuts, coconut, sultanas.
I love honey and mustard dressing too |

When its warm its nice to include a little fruit and sometimes nuts in a salad along with a nice dressing. It can really make it interesting and helps keep you healthy too. |

My favourite salad is :- fish , chips and mushy peas.
Recipe: Open paper. Pick up a chip and go .....oo oo aaa aaa ha foo foo ha foo foo. Pop it in your mouth and go hahaha ooooo a hhahaaaaaaa.
Eat everything even the little crispy bits. Be sure to scrape that little bit of batter off the paper and suck it off your knife......
So easy and a true family favourite on a hot summers evening.
Don't forget to offer vinegar for the nutters that like sloppy stuff. |

"Fresh figs filled with some crumbled goats cheese then oven baked for a few minutes, served with a rocket and tomato salad. Yummy and quick to make. "
Mmmmm one of my faves...
Another is goats cheese wrapped in parma ham then cooked in a little good olive oil till the ham goes crispy and cheese starts to melt.
served with a green salad drizzled in a nice vinagrette |

It sounds delish. Chicken goes well with fruit I think.
I love pear walnut and feta cheese salad - and lots of people seem to like warm salads too.
Anyone tried fried haloumi and lardons over salad leaves -dressed with balsamic and olive oil - blooming lovely!

Just a simple Greek salad heavy on the Olives,,,,,, preferably scoffing it down somewhere in Greece, perched on an old rustic rocking chair sat upon a whitewashed balcony overlooking hoards of beautiful people meandering narrow cobbled streets enjoying a balmy evening...

"Grated apple, carrotts and cheese is a nice filler for salads "
My aunt used to make delicious salads and I think its because she used to chop and shred the ingredients really finely. Also I find I enjoy a sald better if I let it get to room temperature rather than fridge temperature. I cant be the only one that goes picking at the oily dregs at the bottom of a salad bowl left on the buffet

We have Chicken Caesar salad quite often as it's so simple to do. We usually have it on Mondays as we can't face another heavy meal after a full roast on Sundays. |

I like mixing fruit with savoury, and normally have a kiwi fruit as part of my salad for lunch.
I make a mean salad with fruit cocktail as part of the ingredient, and is now affectionately known as Salad Roulette by those who do not like mixing fruit with savoury. |
