Your football is for sissies. They get lightly bumped into and fall to the ground like they have been shot or something. They get carried to the sidelines on a stretcher, get up and they are fine. Where is their integrity? |

Outside the 'elite' at the top of the game the majority of lower league footballers probably earn a lot less than many of us on here. Only the privileged few are earning ridiculous money. The average lower league footballer will be earning a LOT less than Premiership rugby players for example ...
But to answer the OP, cannae wait! First pre-season game tomorrow - ready for the big kick off in 4 weeks time! Woohoo! |

I can wait, football is a game where cheaters are grossly overpaid. I remember an interview with Steven Gerrard years ago where he dived for a penalty without being touched, when this was put to him his reply was the intent was there by the defender.
Cheaters should be banned for a minimum of 6 games. you can tap someone with your finger & they roll around.
The players of today would shit themselves if they came up against the greats of yester year, Billy Bremner, Kenny Burns.

Pool are slow in the transfer market as always,Everton are taking no prisoners,koeman is doing a great job so far with his transfer dealings. Chelsea are in real danger if being left behind if Costa goes and leaves them short,arsenal are just s@#t lol,shitty and pep will get another big shock and spurs don't have what it takes to win the league. This may be their last chance before Kane etc jump ship |

I think that people forget that if you go to the movies for 90 minutes the man or woman on the big screen could have been paid 15 million for that 90 minutes.
Footballers give you 90 minutes for 38 league games, more in the lower leagues, cup games etc.
So if he gets a few million quid a year where is that worse?

I don't know who half the players in the Premiership are these days. I can't keep up with the 'big club' talk.
For me it's all about poor old York City in Conference North, Hartlepool and Leyton Orient in the National League, Lincoln & FGR as the 'newbies' back in League 2, can Luton make the jump up to League 1, how will Blackburn cope after relegation from the Chanpionship and will Plymouth sign Rickie Lambert after he was released by Cardiff, and who will the surprise package be in the Championship this season?

I think Chelsea will struggle bcz of the extra games in the champions league but thier defence will be key again. Shitty will once again start well but bcz pep(in my eyes) is not a good manager at building a team will fall short. Pool have obviously got the fire power but their defence is so poor,it's embarrassing at times. Arsenal have no backbone but keeping Sanchez is paramount,but are about as resilient as a wet paper bag. Spurs will again rely on Kane until he gets injured and then have no plan b,Everton will be the dark horses but it's how they replace lakaku will determine their season. Man u will again be solid and hard to beat but if lakaku hits the ground running the games like against Burnley where we had like 100 attempts on goal will hopefully turn into wins. But most of all for those teams mentioned squad depth will be vital.
So utd 1st

Arsenal 4th

The way they were coached and what was important to them in spain was not as important to us in englan and when I played for wolves(very briefly) it was clear that what I was being asked to do was a million miles away from what they told me they did in Spain. So say what you like. It's the coaches that are to blame. That's why most of the world class manages/coaches now aren't English or british |

For me it's all about poor old York City in Conference North, Hartlepool and Leyton Orient in the National League, Lincoln & FGR as the 'newbies' back in League 2, can Luton make the jump up to League 1, how will Blackburn cope after relegation from the Chanpionship and will Plymouth sign Rickie Lambert after he was released by Cardiff, and who will the surprise package be in the Championship this season?

Well it is over hyped,,and yer national team suffers from it,,its sad home grown English players don't get a chance
It's bcz their shit!. I played semi pro and we had two Spanish players in our team. The way they were coached and what was important to them in spain was not as important to us in englan and when I played for wolves(very briefly) it was clear that what I was being asked to do was a million miles away from what they told me they did in Spain. So say what you like. It's the coaches that are to blame. That's why most of the world class manages/coaches now aren't English or british

With two million people playing football in this country and 20 times that supporting football teams from junior grassroots to Premier League, I'd say there's a lot more too it than just the 'overpaid' elite.
Unlike Fabio for those in grassroots football this is one of the busiest times of the year. Getting teams registered before their League deadlines often involving hundreds of players in just one club. Frantically trying to recruit players so that teams don't fold. Sizing, ordering and distributing kits for players. Chasing subscriptions so the Club can survive financially. And that's just the tip of the iceberg, below the surface are coming to terms with the new systems the FA has introduced to administrate the game and ensure the safety of players in the light of all the abuse cases that have been exposed in the recent past.
I am looking forward to the season starting because it means all those things have been addressed satisfactorily |

Absolute tripe!
The percentage of those who are 'overpaid prima donnas' is minuscule when you look at how many professionals there are. Many at the lower end live moderate lifestyles and then have to retrain when their football careers come to an end.
I knew my limitations and when I was offered a pro contract turned it down as I knew I was better off getting an education... I liked playing football but never loved it, I could never have made the sacrifices many pros have to.
You may not like the game but at least try to understand that it's not all about the premier league players |
