Id make people have the ability to empathise and understand other people's views. Putting yourself in someone else's shoes will hopefully mviewsome people appreciate how their actions affect others. |

Hmmm...change one thing.
I would go with Global Warming/the attitude towards it.
Everything else is either normal human traits, so making the world less human or is fixable and 50 years down the line will be seen as an unusual blip.
The fact that we (previous generations) broke the planet and won't fix it, well that's just permanent and will only get worse |

I'd like the prejudice against disabled people to not exist. For true acceptance of a persons ability whatever that might be. And for society to accept that disabled people are entitled to a quality of life as much as anyone else x |

So tempted to ruin your thread now.
Countries suck, borders and boundaries are holding us back. We're all on the same planet and we're all the same species. If we worked together instead of against each other this planet could overcome every obstacle we out in front of ourselves.
It's that, that I would love to change. |

Mine would be confidence. I hate how people are always asked what they want to be/achieve, then told what they can't be/achieve. I'd love everyone to chase their dreams. |

All debt to be repaid at exactly the same time. Whoever has the most at the end wins ......I'd love to see who has it all and which countries go bankrupt.....bet there will be some big developed countries that go 'pop' |

Definitely restrict access to social media/ mobile phones. Put an age limit on it (know there technically is but it's easy to get round). I think it's the cause of so much youth (and adult) depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions.
It's a 24/7 keeping up with the joneses for many and there's a genuine inability for kids to 'put it down'. They can't not have it on or near them for fear of missing out on something.
The way they're all set up these days is purely ad sales driven and the hard subliminal sell for the end user.
Other than this site I've binned all social media.
That and Trump. |

My first thought is that there is so much I would like to change, some of which I am doing.
But when I narrow down what I really want to change, it's the lack of empathy in the world. I wish we'd all realize that our similarities far outweigh our differences. That we're all lucky to be here, that you'll be far more happy if you practice empathy and kindness. That you'll be the change the world needs by practicing this. I just wish more realised it and the change would be more visible.

Religion hasn't. ..its man who has. I shake my head when I read this. We've grown up in a no blame culture where responsibility is always passed on to someone or something else. It's one of the scourges of our society.
It's man and man's decisions and actions that causes all the issues....not religion, not politics, not race, not culture.... its man. Simple. |

Agreed Religion, its caused more harm than it ever has good.
Not saying take away peoples beliefs as everyone is free to choose what they believe but in a modern society there is no need for it.
Surely we realise by now that there is no such thing??
Take marriage as an example, people go through the motions, waste all that money only to then throw it all away and then spend even more on lawyers and barristers when they later split.
It's just a mockery. |

The world without religion would still have humans.
Humans cause most of the world's problems. A world without religion would still have humans in it so I doubt very much the world's problems would go away. Non-religious humans (Stalin, Hitler, Mao, for example) seem to have killed just as many people and caused just as much suffering as religious ones have, if not, perhaps, more.
Many of us may not know it, but our species have survived this long because unlike other organic beings we have acquired the knowledge to imagine and believe in supernatural things that lifts our spirit and gives us hope. We as the human species need something to believe in even though we sometimes deny it. To loose our religion is to loose the human spirit and to loose the human spirit is to loose what makes us who we are.

Eliminating religion will not stop war, famine, disease and greed.
People will always attack and kill each other until a higher form directs us. Humankind has shown they lack the ability to lead on their own. Otherwise we would have achieved world peace thousands of years ago. The problems will continue even after religion is eliminated. Only time will show the people of the world the truth of what will happen after religion is eliminated.
It's a change of being selfish, always looking out for what I can get rather than looking out for the best in and for others before ourselves. .....that's what I believe will bring about real change her on this planet.

Yes, my first thought was the opposite side of this coin - an end to cruelty. If instead of all the cruelty there was the opposite - empathy and kindness, then I reckon that would solve most if not all of the worlds ills. |

While I agree with a lot of the other posts about religion, hatred, various illnesses and attitudes, this one wins it for me - if we all pulled together as one global community a lot of the other points would then be immaterial as they'd naturally be dealt with by the new found globalness |

yeah I'd like that...my neice has cerebral palsy and cannot weight bear..
it would be great if we could eradicate many peoples conditions....
the problem IS....when we start thinking of people as being less human because of a disability..lets fast forward a few hundred years where all disabilities have been eradicated.. and then someone has one, they might appear genetically inferior in some societies eyes..where then?

It's because humans are a competitive species, we look for weakness in others to self validate our own behavior and appearance.
The 'normality' of our species is only really defined by the abnormality that our society looks for in others. |
