It's rye bread in the diet to work properly, it's basically the old US army and USMC remedial diet for getting weight off fat recruits.

Old as in no longer in use, you get better faster more permanent results with 600 calorie a day protein diets and meal replacements.

Without sounding rude... What do you weigh now and why did you stop doing it?

He only advises one a month.... an rightly so.

If you look at the calorific vale it's not much, but it's hard to sustain without becoming lethargic.

Other very low calorie diets, tend to be meal replacements, full of vitamins minerals fibre, that kind of thing isn't like a week on slim fast shakes twice a day with a proper meal.

Diets are a waste of time!

It's about a lifestyle change! Calorie count and if you want to loose weight for whatever reason ensure you burn more than you take in!

Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced healthy diet with the odd treat

I agree with the fasting side of it. Lots of good research and findings coming out now about just how good fasting is for your body. It boosts the immune system, balances your insulin. The list is endless...

He says once a month and did it June to September in 2012.

My weight loss has really stalled and looking for something to kick start it but not a fan of things like meal replacements etc. Just need to get strict with myself. My old Dr Ince told me I would only lose weight if I got an eating disorder and became obsessed with it.

This kind of thing is for the intellectually challenged.

Losing more than 2lbs a week is unhealthy and you'll have excess skin afterwards.

If you eat the right amount of veggies and fruit a day you wouldn't need to go through that disaster of a crash diet.

I recently just swapped all the junk I was eating for fruit and white bread for brown.

Those minor dietary changes have dropped over two inches off my waist.

I don't eat less, I just eat better.

I'm going to have a mini-rant here, but do people ever wonder what the reasons are behind someone being overweight!? I'm not talking about the obvious eating more calories stuff, but that sometimes people have been through emotional things that have caused them to turn to food for comfort.

Keto diet is the best for fast results. You dont feel lethargic from minimal carbs because you just simply up your healthy fats intake. Your body turns into a fat melting machine. These stipid diets just make you hungrier and ill

Crash dieting is unhealthy, unsustainable and only appeals to the gullible. What you've described is typical snake oil bullshit.

I wish people would stop chasing quick fixes and faddy bollocks.. its so depressing

I say this after spending many many years doing it myself and ALWAYS ending up fatter in the end, they're simply not sustainable long term and fail to help you figure out what really got you to the point of needing/wanting to lose weight in the first place

The most frustrating part is that it's all so simple really.. I lost 4.5 stone a few years ago and for the first time ever, did it properly and kept it off! I spent my whole life fat, but I'll never go back now.

My advice to anyone is the same, sack plans, mrps, or anything that's outside of what you would usually eat - download an app to your phone called MyFitnessPal and start by logging (100% honestly) everything you put into your mouth.

Do that for a couple of weeks then set your goals, let it give you a daily calorie intake and decide which bits you could eat less of/do without to achieve your target

This way, you diet is made up of the foods you normally eat and is sustainable

Live by the sword is my philosophy for everything in life. If you're happy to smash takeaways abc processed food all the time the be prepared to reap the consequences later on in life.

At the end of the day we're all likely to get something when we're older. Cancer, disease of some kind. Personally I'd want to give myself a better chance of fighting it fit and healthy than idle and miserable.

Of course, each to their own.

Because there are some basic facts about life like a pound of fat is about 3,500 calories. So to lose a pound of fat you need a calorie deficit of 500 a day to lose a pound a week. Your body needs more than 868 calories a day, that's not a healthy amount. You claimed to also do 45 minutes exercise which should burn 450 calories. I don't believe any doctor told you that it was healthy for your body to run on 418 calories and the fact that a third of your 868 came from ice cream is just ridiculous.
