If you could take a year out what would you do?

I'm insanely jealous! In 2008 I left reality behind for island hopping in the South Pacific and it was the best 8 months ever. Go travelling, anywhere, and if you like it stay for a while, if not move on....

I'd certainly go back to Tanzania, revisit Kilimanjaro, before heading in country to help out in the villages.

I'd probably spend a month bumming around beaches in the sunshine. I'd also love to go to the Himalayas and just trek round with the camera, snapping away.

Come back home and spend a bunch of time at the car shelter we both volunteer at, and get a load of the DIY work that needs doing.

...Up on the Downs

I took one - went to Germany and worked with showjumpers for a millionaire stock broker, fell in love with a farmer, had a great time!

You could volunteer for guide dogs as a puppy Walker or a dog boarder.

I don't know. I've travelled a lot and lost that bug so I'd probably make that year three years and finally do my PhD.

Wow that awesome, however I have too many grown up responsibilities to see to to fantasise about what I could do with a year away.

However I would take my boys on an around the world trip, on a yacht, with someone that I know

I usually work. But since moving to the UK I've had extended periods where I haven't worked.

During that time I've tried my best to travel as much as possible (although still limited by Marc's job). I've also been doing a lot of writing, which is something I won't get to do once I have a proper job again.

I did the same back in 2012. Started off in Rio for the Carnival and 50 countries and 6 continents, I got back 3 years later.

Was only meant to go for 8 months!

Embrace it! It's not a bad thing. Had the time of my life!

Off backpacking through the Greek Cyclades in a few weeks. Never leaves you.

But the older you get the harder it becomes, do it now and soak up everything there is out there
