"Has the hygienist polished them? That gets any stains off, not whitening but gets them as good as they can be naturally."
yeah i go once every 6 months as thats what she said to do..
i just feel the colour could be brighter.
i very rarely smile with teeth in pictures for that reason |

"Oil pulling does work and has a lot of health benefits for your gums. Plus no chemicals. It takes some getting used to though.
Or buy the whitening strips online...much cheaper and they do work. "

I hate the colour of my teeth too so I'll watch this with interest.
Stain-removing products won't work on mine as they aren't stained on the surface. The actual dentine was discoloured by an antibiotic that I was given as a child. The tablet was thankfully withdrawn once they realised that it had this side effect |

Same, antibiotics as a child discolored mine. Starting to get a thing about it, I find it very hard to smile in photos, so I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Be careful with the strips as USA ones come in much higher peroxide than legally allowed in uk.
A dentist will use around 6-9%. I have seen strips as high as 40% on eBay / Amazon. People end up in hospital with burns to gums and tooth damage.
I am getting laser whitening at a clinic over 12 months. It's 1k for a treatment plan / but the laser activates the bleaching faster etc.

I think you have your answer in your question "natural colour" not everyone has sparkling white teeth...and the only way to get them is with veneers or crowns.....which will cost you thousands.
All you can do is keep them as clean and white as your colour will allow. |

I smashed my jaw in an accident as a child, had loads of hospital appointments, then when eventually went to school dentist they said my teeth were not lined up because I sucked my thumb,I never sucked my thumb ever.it was because of accident, but they wouldn't believe me. |

Yes, for a few years now. My teeth will never be pearly white (natural colour & all) but definitely look better...even my dentist agrees, haven't had the need for hygienist since. |

I tried this. Went through all the hassle and cost of having a specially made gum shield fitted and had the gel (which tastes bitter as hell) to use at home. Spent about £300 on the whole shebang. And the gel set my teeth on edge making my gums incredibly sensitive. I persisted with the treatment, but this didnt improve so eventually I gave up. It really didnt appear to be making a lot of difference anyway. Waste of time and money. |

"just ordered the crest luxe whitening strips.. certainly cheaper than 400 quid "
Please let us know how you get on with them. I hate my toofy pegs (that did make me smile) too. I'm really self conscious about them, especially in pictures. x |

Yes it works. You get the trays measured to fit correctly so that is the main cost and then you get the syringes of bleach x 2 one stronger than the other. Then subsequently you buy a syringe at around £50 to top up. At least the trays last and you shouldnt need again.
Dont be tempted to go to a salon and get cheap treatment where they damage the enamel. The price might vary from different dentists so you could ring around.
My son uses a strip he buys from USA and I dont like what it does to his teeth they take on a strange colour after he does it (sorta bluish and translucent) but like all kids he wont listen. . |

I had that a few years ago, £350 for the initial treatment including making the shields then £70 for each subsequent treatment, very effective but the gel can really sting the gums. You can get similar tooth whitening kits off e bay much cheaper but not quite as effective. |
