Maybe I am old fashioned, by that I think you should progress in a company on the merit of your skills.
I keep being told I should 'play the game' and brown nose the manager, but I can't do it.
Anyone else think like this, or do you think the play along is the only way to get up the ladder. |

Unfortunately this is true. I've cloned pretty high kissing ass. I can't stand my boss, she's disgusting with such a bad attitude but once I reach that point then I'll turn the cheek and dismiss her. It's a way of life. It's sad but very true. |

I avoided brown nosing and watched several people get promoted ahead of me, I'm not so full of myself that I didn't begin to doubt my ability to do my job to merit promotion.
Fortunately working with a crew who constantly re assured me I'd be royally shafted softened the blow, if only a little bit.
Keep your integrity, as my old man said to me "don't shit on anybody on your way up the ladder, never know when you'll meet them on the way back down".
