The sun rises on this as every morn,
On verdant fields it's golden rays adorn.
And wearily i must lift my head,
From the soft comforts of my bed.
'There's bills to pay' was all she said.
Stumbling blindly into the light,
No chance now to regain the night.
Strong black coffee, watch the news,
Trying to shake these morning blues.
I draw a deep breath, my lungs to infuse.
Boots laced tightly, cap on straight,
Out into the world, 'Good morning, mate'.
Another shilling earnt is the rule,
Now i know 'tis a fact i'm not a fool.
But sometimes i wish i'd tried harder at school. |
