Do you find you work more productively with silence as your backdrop or do you stick music/ movie noise in the background?
I find I struggle to concentrate unless I have background noise on. |

I usually stick a movie I've watched dozens of times on. It's noise, its familiar, I don't need to concentrate on it so I can focus on the work at hand. |

"Silence as I have to really concentrate. Mistakes have proven to be costly..
Does it feel tedious? "
No, because only part of my work is at home and I love what I do. Also, it's the only time I get peace and quiet in our house!
If it was day in day out sat in silence at a computer then I think I'd find it very tedious. |

Have to be careful to make it something bland. If i stick the radio/podcasts on or something that really demands listening to then I either listen to it intently and don't work, or dont listen at all and get pissed off that I missed it.
Who said blokes cant multi task? Oh yes, me! |

With my windows open listening to the birds twittering and the babbling water in the stream nearby ... then I wake up and have to get on with my work and put some music on! |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I have tinnitus and really can't concentrate if there isn't some noise around.
I work with R4 on and only turn it off for interviews and numerical analysis work. Music can be too emotional to have on in the background.
