I'm heavily tattooed and personally they act as a guard against small minded fuckwits who form an opinion about me based on how much ink coverage I've got.

Personally it was the best thing I've ever done getting this much ink, and even more booked up.

I think tattoos are beautiful if done properly and arty. Yes some men and women can look rough/hard but thats just first impressions. I think if a guy happens to be a big tall guy, bald head and slightly mean looking with tats, I do make an assumption .. incorrectly of course until I begin to chat to them.

Love ink on a man or woman especially if they are done well, I have a large number including a sleeve and a leg piece which has taken 15 hrs so far with another 15hrs to be done.

I have my reasons for my tattoos as do others, if you don't like them use the block button !

You've just described me! And it's very common tbh, people make a snap judgement based on my appearance. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, I couldn't fight my way out of a wet paper bag, but I look like a bit of a thug so punchy little pricks tend to leave me alone.

What an ancient way of looking g at things. The majority of people I know who have successfull careers are covered in tattoos, ranging from police officers to Managing Directors... Any lack of success you experience is not because of ink in your skin.

They do nothing for me personally. I've never understood why somebody would make such a decision for life. It's like deciding the first pictures you ever put on your walls are there forever, and how many people want to hang a poster of Gary Glitter now?

Each to their own but I read recently that it's become so common that it's no longer considered the sign of rebellion it used to be.

As above poster said, it's really not for you to understand. For me it's personal and my ink has meaning and helped me through tough times in my life. I'd never judge anyone on their body choices as I'd expect you to be more likely to understand more than anyone.

All of the above and then some. If i meet people with tattoos I am genuinely interested to hear the back story. Everyone has very different reasons to choose to have a tattoo done. Judging others on their aesthetics is one of the worst human traits. I for one celebrate our differences.

Tatts on a woman can be sexy as hell if it's a good tattoo and you can see it means something special to the person. Not a fan of the "Blackpool tattoo" though, the cheap nasty ones that they got for the sake of getting a tattoo. Only have the one myself but its a custom job that has a lot of meaning to me.

My ink is just that. Mine. They are based around doodles that I had always just whiled the time away doing from my early teens. I knew I wanted them as tattoos but waited until I was 23 before I got my first and another four years for my second. Both my own refined "doodles". I don't wear them to show others. They are for me. They can be covered with a t-shirt but I don't do it for that purpose. I have seen folk give both positive and blatantly negative looks. And I don't care. I'm planning another soon too

I wasn't into tattoos for most of my life because they were or it seemed, for older guys who'd been in the foreign legion or whatever, or lorry drivers. They have come a long way artistically and I've now decided are valid in that sense. They don't need to mean, commemorate or tell anyone anything now, they can just be art which I think is creative and therefore positive.

I'd have a massive full torso work if could just decide on what to have
