I took my now ex wife away for her birthday.
Arrange hotel and had them cover the bed in rose petals. Then a meal out at a lovely little restaurant. I had arranged for a cake to be made and brought to the table, but what i did not expect was all the staff bringing it over singing happy birthday for her. They also brought some extra flowers for her too.
Then a long night of passionate love making, which i am sure kept a lot of other people in the small hotel awake.

Someone telling me "because I fucking love you" during a bit of an anxious episode. It was the first time they said it to me and definitely took my mind off whatever I was stressing about! |

I always wanted to go outside ice skating at Xmas and the guy I was with booked it for us... followed by a lovely meal. Same guy took me to the beach as a surprise (in South Wales) and he gave me a pretty pebble from the beach... still got it
Neither involed pots of money.., just simple and sweet things xxx |

when someone says they will be there for you for a certain thing and you know whatever happens between you they 100% mean it - not essentially romantic -

It's not an event or an occasion but a small gift one Christmas.....
A small fake silver heart key ring with the word "laugh" on it. It's a key ring and it jingles.
It's one of my most precious possessions .... entirely worthless and priceless at the same time.
It was from a man who stole my heart and hasn't returned it. I almost gave it away a few months ago but luckily it found its way back to me. |

Its always those little things.
I still have a watch that my ex brought me. Its old, clockwork and at the moment needs some TLC, but i will never part with it. |

"It saddens me to say that my life has been pretty devoid of romance. "
Thats a travesty, you should be swept off your feet by a handsome hunk.
Working on the hunk bit now, plastic surgery will help the handsome bit when i have the cash.

My ex hubby - made a selection of hand made vouchers with the perferated lines and looked quite authentic. Offering me a meal and wine night, a full body massage, a bath run for me and back scrub and various other vouchers. Was the most touching and thoughtful thing anyone had ever done for me. He was very considerate. |

The night before my first finals exam at uni my ex husband (boyfriend at the time) brought me round a flower and to say good luck.
He wasn't the romantic type so it meant a lot to me.
He used to draw cartoons for me too |

Coming home from a hard day at work to a bubbly bath, candles lit all around the bathroom with rose petals and a glass of wine.
I could smell the waft of tea cooking whilst i was chilling out.
I'll never forget how thoughtful that was |

I have a few:-
A surprise trip to Paris for Valentine's Day
A BF had a cake made for me for Valentine's Day because I hate red roses
A BF flew from Germany to bring me my favourite perfume because I was running out and you couldn't buy it here at the time. He had to go back the next day.
Most recently a poem was written for me. It was beautiful and by far the most romantic gesture of all because it took time, effort and a lot of thought |

Many years ago late one night my mrs said she really fancied some doughnuts so i told her i was going to bed but sneaked out of the back door and drove from Bolton to Blackpool and bought 50 fresh made ones for her.
That's about as romantic as i get.
Which ain't much |

I've just offered him a trip to the funfair where I would hold his hand on the scary rides. He turned me down |

A girlfriend wrote a poem for me once.
And this isn't exactly romantic, but an old lover told me he loved me for exactly the person that I am, which was the first time someone said those words to me.
I think most of my lovers have, at some point, done something that's really touched me but those things weren't particularly romantic. |

Oh, actually the above mentioned old lover gave me some very well chosen presents.
The first Christmas we knew each other, in 2011, he bought me a journal to get me into writing again, and a Stitch teddy to stop me stealing his - I still keep a journal now and that teddy's still on my bed.
Then for Christmas in 2012 he made a Stag Patronus canvas, though he doesn't even like Harry Potter. He's making me a similarly themed Wolf Patronus canvas - which he started for my birthday last year - dedicated to my favourite Harry Potter character. |

Snow!!!!!!
I'm from a hot country, and was complaining to the bf (at the time)... after listening to the umpteenth Christmas song about 'a white Christmas' that there's never any snow! Silly lil rant (living in London)
So Christmas morning when I woke up, he blindfolded me, let me down the stairs... I just felt something cool beneath my feet. When I took off the blindfold, he had woken up early, and covered downstairs in fake snow, from Hamleys,
So I could have a 'white Christmas' haha
It was perfect. I thought it was the sweetest thing.
I have loads of romantic stories/moments. Sometimes men can be so amazing! |

It sounds romantic to me!
doesn't always have to be chocolate/ flowers/jewellery or great expense. Of course those things are lovely.
But the fact that you picked up on a casual comment, and decided to make an effort, for something simple.., just to make her smile... that's gold!
I'd have swooned!
A guy once who drove a two hour round trip to bring me mango chow. I didn't ask for or expect that....couldn't believe it actually.. since we'd just been chatting?! I liked him so much more after that. |

After reading through some of the messages, I could see most of the romantic moments are with either from your ex husb or ex bf, not sure how most of them got separated now though, if you both loved each other. Life is very hard for some. |

On the anniversary of us meeting shaggy took me out for the day. We strolled along the canal and sat on a bench at the top lock of Hatton flight. There he proposed to me with a haribo ring.
It was totally unexpected and he made me cry while saying yes |

My last proposal was quite romantic thinking back when he "found" something in the sea on holiday in Greece only for it to be an engagement ring, but generally i don't inspire romantic gestures. |

Recently had an 'electric moment' with my man, he's not good with eye contact and we had just discovered bondage and boy we enjoy it!! Anyway while we were making love he actually looked me in the eyes and it was at that moment he realised how much I loved him and him me, it was certainly a 'wow' moment previous to this our relationship had been very on and off

You should have covered your pecker in rose petals and held a box of Milk Tray aloft with a note that said "Ms Valiant, these are for you!" With a pic of you and your cock parachuting out of a window in Milk Tray Man mode.
THAT would have been romantic |

A couple of years ago I fell deeply in love with someone I worked with. We were seeing each other on and off for 8 months. Christmas rolled around and I wanted to make a big gesture so I took her away to Venice for a long weekend. Booked a 5 star hotel, gondola rides the works...she was the one for me. Got back on Monday and she dumped me before I'd put my suitcase in the car. I'm not sure I'll find that again. |

I knew I had the wrong treat, sitting next to you in the cinema, box of popcorn on my lap. When you were helping yourself and discovered there was a hole in the bottom of the box and my trousers were unzipped
Should have done it with Milk Tray, that would have made it much better |

"Someone getting to an airport ahead of me leaving a country to give me a letter to read on the aeroplane. "
Someone who lived abroad giving me a lift to the airport after my hols, then on impulse, jumping on a plane back to the UK, hiring a car to drive me home from Gatwick, then taking me to see Bowie the following weekend haha!!
(It was lust though, not romance, but A for effort! ) |

Most romantic but saddest too. When the guy I realised I was totally in love with told me he was in love with me too but because he loved me so much he was letting me go before we both got hurt anymore. Different life stages so it would never have worked out but it was good to be loved that much |

My husband, who never bought me a birthday or Valentines card, wrote me a poem near the end of our marriage. I cried because it was a token gesture, not from the heart, and I felt nothing for him any more.
Other than that, I can't think of anything. |

Hubby is super romantic and thoughtful so honestly there are so many things I could think of (really not bragging but he is really good at all that stuff whereas i'm pants as anything creative and thoughtful). He bought me 21 really personal and thoughtful presents for my 21st birthday, like a trip to London to see the Lion King, a camera to capture memories, a beautiful ring, a little perfume decanter so I can always carry my favourite perfume in my handbang (it feels like the Generation Game!) which was lovely and lots of wonderful stuff like that.
However, without doubt I absolutely LOVED the time he did a treasure hunt for my birthday around the house and garden. Each clue led to a present with the next clue attached. On the back of each bit of paper was a letter and at the end of the hunt I had to put the letters together to figure out my final present. It instructed me to go down to the garage and when I got there hubby was totally naked with a massive baguette (don't think you need clues to where the baguette was resting) and he was surrounded by everything you could possibly think of as being French. The final letters came together to spell 'Paris'! |

Can't think of one genuinely romantic moment... I've never even been bought flowers, or had a valentines card. Even when my ex boyfriend proposed (many many years ago) it was a last minute moment of panic on his behalf because I was going abroad to work for a year... he hadn't prepared or bought a ring |

I planned a proposal for a past flame. A 5 star hotel for the weekend, spa day and a Michelin starred restaurant. Followed by a twilight walk, to a place that I declared I loved her, where I would have asked the question.
Unfortunately, and possibly fortunately, I never got the opportunity to deliver.
