Right i see what they have done. They have always sold clothes via their additions catalogue but have now sold the additions part of the business so are launching a different range.
Thought i was going mad |

I believe it was called 'argos additions' it then changed to 'addidtions direct' and that got taken over by 'Very'
so im not quite sure why they are taking up childrens clothing specifically when they got rid of there previous venture into the clothing side of things.. but yes it was a sub company i believe |

"Very is little woods catalogue
Argos did have clothing back in 2000 when I used be a shop boy lol but it ended due to high returns"
Most of the catalogue companies are linked.
I must admit that the Ladybird range at Woolworths was a god send for my sister. Such good quality and reasonably priced.
Someone would make a killing if they brought them back. |

Argos is part of the Home Retail Group which also owns Homebase.
The group also owns Bush, Alba, Chad Valley, Schreiber and Hygena Brands.
It was once part of Great Universal (GUS) but was listed as a private company in 2006.
GUS also sold it's home catalogue business to Littlewoods back in 2004.
Quite bizarrely, Home Retail Group is also affiliated to the credit rating group Experian. |

Now that has made me come over all nostalgic! My children are 19, 23 and 28 and I bought nearly all their clothes from the Ladybird range: my 19 year old wore hand-me-downs from her sisters as the clothes maintained the colour and shape: oh happy days! |

i've never understood why the argos concept has been so successful to date.
they rarely have displays on show unless you go to the bigger stores
i know the home delivery service is a bonus, but i wouldn't want to spend hundreds on furniture without seeing it for real beforehand.
and even with the cheaper stuff, i am tactile person. i like to maul anything i buy as well as seeing it.
so the only reason i would use argos is if i see something i like elsewhere and their price is better / the best. |
