Adjusting temperature in drinks fridge help please

We have a small drinks fridge which wasn't cooling things down very well. I emptied it & noticed inside at the back it was all iced up. I switched it off & defrosted it it now works better although I think it could be colder, I've also not put as much back in as I think it was too full which may explain the ice.

My question is I can see how to adjust the temperature with the dial on the back, but don't know which way to turn it,, I'm sure it's obvious but not to me, its numbered 1-6 which is coldest please? Thanks.

1 - It ought to be in degrees centegrade. Most fridges are set at 4 or thereabouts.

What was it on? Turn it the other way.

You're welcome.

The higher the number the more energy it pumps in so lower the temperature. So turn it up for colder.

1 is warmest

6 is coldest

If it's one of those Husky or Stella fridges, they hardly ever get cold enough. We had 2 and they both went back to Currys - crap. Best get hold of one of the small glass fronted cabinets that sit behind bars, they are great and cool your stuff very quickly.

6 should be coldest, I run my alcohol only fridge that is kept in my garage halfway between 3 & 4 this keeps my scrumpy at the perfect temperature = not to cold that you get a brain freeze & stomach cramps, but in the 30+ degree heat this week just right to quench the raging thirst of a working class man

Yes it is a Husky it was set on 3, so will try it on 4. I knew the numbers weren't degrees but wrongly assumed the lower the temperature the colder it is! Sounds like I'm wrong thanks for your help.

If you've just defrosted it then give it a day or so to get cool again. Also fill it up as it'll work better.

Oh ok so the more we put in there the colder it will get, thought the more space the air has to circulate the more efficient it is, so I'm wrong again?

It still need space to circulate the cold air round.

Get a fridge thermometer Ideally your fridge should be 5c
