Just heard this news myself.

He was on so many programmes when I was a kid.

Most memorable for me was Trumpton

We used to make silly sentences and jokes on his name being Cant.

Nooooo! Other than Johnny Ball passing away that's the saddest childhood icon dying news there could be.

So many memories. RIP Brian, I'm sure Humpty, Big Ted, Little Ted, Hamble and Jemima will join me in shedding a tear tonight!

Aw. I think part of my love of wordplay and joyous silliness is as a direct result of that man's influence in my childhood. Wonderful presenter.

Sad news indeed.

Even at 42 years old I still delight in watching Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley.

Happy memories from my childhood.

Out with the DVD box set tonight I think.

RIP Brian.

He had Parkinson's disease, I'd rather have that than alzheimer's.

I'd rather spill half my pint than forget where I put it

Sad indeed, very few managed to match the way he drew me in during my formative years.

To quote Sir Billy Connolly, "I've got Parkinson's Disease, I wish he'd kept it to himself".
