So a friend of mines 19 year-old daughter got her drink spiked at the weekend and before circumstance is thrown at the debate it was genuine and very distressing before she had frame of mind to escape from the club, no this incident the intended victim escaped.
Just how widespread is this and what is the male to female victim ratio? |

Sorry to hear that and glad she's ok and unhurt.
No idea how common or the ratio.
But it's common sense to NEVER leave drinks unattended and always eyeball the purchase if someone offers to buy you one!

Happened to me years ago. I am not a drug taker never even smoked a cigarette. Was out on night out with friends and misunderstanding led to drink being unattended. Few of us affected. The Drs who saw us think it was someone thinking it was 'funny' to drop ecstasy in our drinks. I lost several hours and had no idea how I got home (friends saw I was acting out of character and made sure I got home ok). Horrible experience. People that do this lowest of the low. |

Was it a regular club?

I had my drink spiked, being a man I didn't realise there was a need to watch my drink. Started to feel unwell and dizzy and light headed on the way home. Couldn't focus so pulled over and next thing is I woke up 6 hours later. Oh and by the way, only had 1 small glass of wine so befor anyone suggests it. No I wasnt pissed |

I have a friend who was at uni and was spiked. She was in hospital for ages because it affected her mentally. She had problems trusting people and going out alone. She had to retake a whole year of her uni course.
Luckily she has come through the experience ok now. But it was a really tough time for her. And her family. |

i stressed to my kids when they started to go out to always stay with friends - even if there was a huge fallout to not let anybody go off alone - fortunately they have been ok but they have both told me horror stories - keep as safe as you can is all you can do |

I've had a pill dropped in a drink once or twice. It's usually visible for a minute or two by a coloured trace.
Simple rule is NEVER put your drink down. If it tastes odd or shows signs of discolouration then DO NOT drink it. If you feel strange, stop drinking and go home. |
