What's the problem with being ginger? I'm naturally ginger but I got heavily bullied in school for it so yes, I changed my hair but I still don't understand why people have a problem with it. Is it really such a bad thing that someone has a different genetic arrangement to you?

That is a very bad thread lots of ginger people get bullied.
And that is just horrible I also find women whom are naturally ginger are extremely beautiful especially with the little freckles that come out a lot when it is hot I used to have a ginger friend at school.
Who came back after the summer holidays with dark hair and he still got bullied as he was hiding people said so I dyed my hair ginger and he went back strange though nobody said anything to me is that because I had dark hair and was not a natural ginger.
But this thread is just in bad tasge. |

It's insane really isn't it? We live in a society that is so strung up on things such as race and gender discrimination but it's all good to hate against someone who is naturally pale and has ginger hair |

My identity card is my ginger beard, which in the summer goes quite bright, but with quite a lot of white bits now & in the winter it goes like dark old rust with quite a lot of white bits in.
I refuse to dye it & have had a few QUIET WORDS in the past with people who have made offensive comments about ginger people, especially as an old girlfriend of mine was very bright ginger & absolutely gorgeous. |

Always found it was any difference that could be used to attack people and I did stand out a bit in a sea of brown haired school kids. I was bullied from starting school until leaving because I had bright red hair...
Seems from the OP post some have never left school behind |

I'm also a natural redhead. I was bullied for that and a few other differences at school. As soon as I was 16 I started dying it but am moving back to it now. I love red hair on men and women. I feel proud to be a red head xxxx |
Reply privately (thread closed by moderator)
Actually quite offended here as im a red head!
Like most i was bullied because of my hair colour and i didnt take it as a child and i certainly wont accept it as an adult, if you dont like someones hair colour move on and shut up rather than inciting a horrid and nasty thread to make yourself feel better.

Assuming this was posted for a giggle but its kind of backfired. To single out people because of a certain physical feature is pretty immature and uncalled for in todays society.
OP, should you carry an identity card as you're not what you claim to be either ? |
Reply privately (thread closed by moderator)
Seriously what a sad individual that's still at playground level of thinking.
I wouldn't expect you to carry a card saying I wear women's clothes so why should I carry a card saying I'm a redhead?
I wouldn't need to as it's not a secret, I carry my mane of red hair with pride and I've never had any negative reactions from it.
Get over yourself.

Wow! Not enough that we're bullied and teased throughout school, made the butt of countless jokes, stereotyped as unattractive/temperamental/too feisty to handle etc, we now should 'prove' that we're natural gingers if we choose to colour our hair otherwise? How about non-gingers who dye their hair carry a card saying that they're just faking it, as they haven't had to deal with all the negativity and stigma?
Historically, redheads were burnt at the stake for being witches and soul-stealing vampires, but you'd think by now our awesome genetic mutation would be accepted as normal and not something to be avoided |

You see my perspective of being life long natural ginger who grew up during a time where idiot wankers thought it amusing to single me out because of the colour of my hair....
So I'm happy to report that the rest of my life has been a magnificent success which has far exceeded the achievements of any of those small minded pricks and I'd just like to take this oppertunity to thank them and mock them relentlessly with smugness .. |

"I thought he was joking
Maybe we should wait till he explains himself... or herself ... whatever... you know what I mean ... "
What's to explain. It's rude disrespectful and offensive....not just the clear gingerism ....
But to treat anyone in a way that singles them out for abuse for any reason.
We are an exclusive club only around 2% of people are blessed with being red...
And having been bullied at school and beyond for my genetic background...I will not allow the bullies to pick on others... |

I was very ginger as a kid and took all kinds of abuse at school for it. It's really I excusable in an age when we accept all sexualities, religions, skin colours and ethnic origins to be abusing people for the colour of their hair.
I even dated a blonde who darkened her hair because she was sick of being treated like she was thick. (Though in her case, I'm not convinced it was the blondness that made people think she was thick so much as the fact she was THICK!) |

Would love a ginger message filter block as ive a bit of a ginger phobia, Its the ginger eyelashes and paleness, I'm a weirdo ano but some folk don't like clowns n spiders well gingers give me the fear. I can't even look at ginger cats the eyelashes n blue eyes n lack of pigmentation freaks me out a wee bit. A ginger must of been bad to me in a previous life |

From my perspective,
Is your friend actually aware that most bullies who tormented us as kids now stand there and go
"I was only having a laugh"?
Irrespective of it being a laugh or giggle to you, to others it is still quite offensive as i am sure you can tell.
As for being d*unk, again thats no excuse. Your responsible for your actions, not drink and personally from someone who has probably been bullied because of your sexual orientation just makes it even more unbelievable.
Then to sit there and tell those of us who are offended to "get a life" is even more wrong.
How about rather than making another excuse you do the decent thing and actually apologise? |
