"I need to update mine - i think i have an old build."
you might have trouble doing that ... tvaddons site has completely vanished so no fusion or indigo to download anymore .... lots of reports of exodus having problems with play back and phoenix has vanished too .... part of a crackdown apparently .... it's getting reported that sellers of pre-loaded boxes have been getting nicked today too

Exodus and indigo updated yesterday...but indigo failed today. I was thinking about getting a vpn but will wait a couple of days to see what's happening.
But I think that will be the only way to run kodi as it will be a case of providers blocking the addons. |

that was tvaddons ... they had the biggest repository too ... they were the biggest player ... they were being sued by a joint team comprising of premier league, sky tv, netfix and some others ... they are going after other repositorys now and also the development teams that write the addons ... the european teams are very vulnerable due to new european digital laws |

It's not surprising considering how popular it's becoming. People telling all their friends to get it then they tell people and so on.
Happens with all things like this, too many people talk about it and it gets taken down. |

And how long have they been going after pirate bay?
Heck iirc pirate bay has gained so much from being "cracked down on" they where looking at truly insane and hilarious projects such as servers on weather balloons.
This isn't much of a concern.
The bigger concern is how many people just download and update these things.
For instance did you know the original developer of exodus dropped it after it was found he had turned it into a giant botnet to attack some personal enemies.

"no need to pay if you find the right app as apps for some reason dont come under the same laws as web based sites ,"
They do its just these apps redirect you to websites they host nothing. Similar to pirate bay or Google.
It's still illegal though only a civil offense with the fine capped at the value of goods you've downloaded.
However if any of the app streams via a bit torrent method you are technically liable for the entirety of your uploads which can run into many many thousands, bur it's rarely pursued.
The main risk is these apps are often riddled with adware, or malware |

"never us3ed kodi or firessticks of any kind they seem too dodgy in allowing viruses and are in the same level as putlocker etc"
Your application modro is just a less widely adopted equvilent of kodi.
Works exactly the same way finds website streams and forwards them to you.
Ironically from your statement put locker will be one of the streams provided by modro |

Use Firefox and download Tor browser it unlocks a hundred per cent of the Internet where with Chrome you are only getting 0.4 percent.
And also you can go on torrent sites with no risk of been court as it changes your up address per five seconds and gives you three in addresses per time example.
Sweden USA Australia then five seconds later it can jump to Germany Spain Brazil etc etc.
Download kodi add on though this and you will get it fine. |

We were using the wookie build and it seemed to drop alot.
Now we are running the "no limits" build and its fine again.
Most builds go through phases of reliable/unreliable so it works to have two builds to bounce between

"looks like it's getting taken down ... was only a matter of time i guess ... but then someone will probably come up with a work around at some point"
Kodi on its own is legal, its when you are using certain repos you hit a gray area. Blocking kodi cant be done legally.
However if they do try to block it then it starts with blocking access to sites. The thing with kodi is the lists update and change quite often, search the same program once an hour and see how it changes which keeps it fluid.
With 17.3 coming out there has been numerous stability issues with certain repos and builds.so unfortunately its staying with it.
If you are looking for a decent stable build for 17.3 we use "no limits magic" we were using "wookie" |

Most repos are now working with builds like wookie. Most of the bigger builds have "lite" versions aimed at boxes and firesticks.
Wookie (lots of running errors)
No magic limits (fine at the mo)
Hard nox (not tried)
Tomb raider (stable but slow)
The beast (stable but slow)
All of those should of a lite build. I will also say its been tested on a home pc and firestick on a 50mb connection if that helps |

Kodi is absolutely fine.
One of the main repositories of Add-ons for Kodi has been taken offline; however those add-ons will work for a time but it will be more difficult to update them. You may have to fins another repository for add-ons to get them updated / downloaded.

"Time to get a vpn I think
Had pondered this, worth the outlay and what to get??"
You need to look for one that doesn't store logs otherwise your wasting your money! Either go for one that states they store no logs or one that clears logs at the end of the session, preferably the former. |

Vpn - cyberghost is good and free and is quite a generic one.
But it depends on why you want it? If its for browsing porn or internet use, i would recommend TOR browser.

I've paid a lot of money to the BBFC over the years for certification yet not once have they took action against people stealing my material, if it's for instance Walt Disney or Warner Bros it's stealing but when it's honest tax paying porn producers they over look it.
Do I feel guilty...not in the slightest lol. |

A vpn is not to solve any problem atm, a vpn is provide anonymity and reduce the risk of prosecution.
Once the snoopers charter takes effect prosecutions for piracy will be relatively quick and simple after the first few test cases are concluded.
Rember though vpn services provide for a limited number of devices your best bet for home use is to purchase a second router that can run vpn software. That way you just connect to its wifi with however many devices you want for instant anonymity |

Why would you recommend tor for that? It reduces your security in that situation and speed.
Tor is if you want to a cess dark Web sites or if you want to get around more heavy government restrictions like in China.
However you are vulnerable to man in the middle attacks from the end points (most are ran by the nsa/us military as as a civilian in the uk you'd have to be either an idiot or up to something to run an exit node).
Vpn is faster more reliable and less vulnerable than tor for day to day things
If you are really paranoid vpn providers like nord over vpn-vpn services where they jump your connection between some of Thier servers to make thier own mini tor system to make you harder to track again, or they can even do vpn-tor-vpn services to make it simpler to use tor but you still run the risk of compromised exit nodes.
Tor is for anonymity not data security. |

Err how are you being treated harsher?
It's a civil offense they haven't prosecuted you or arrested you or sent you to jail for years or banned you from operating a tv/computer.
All they've done is shut down the Criminal supplier.

"learning to install add-ons and their dependencies direct from URL's is the way forward ... then you have no reliance on builds which seem to be the weak link ... you can update yourself every couple of weeks or so ... i just re-installed the latest update of exodus using this method and it worked a treat
Maybe for the future but I've got the "ares" build on now and it works a treat.
any thing new going on about tvaddons
No Google cazwall repository
so do i keep tvaddons on my box and install cazwall repository or do i have to remore tvaddons 1st
Remove it...it's fucked now" and the best way to do that is |

Im confused
My exodus is no longer showing even names of shows let alone links (basically i get as far as my tv shows then press progress nothing happens or view all tb shows then "people are watching" again nothing happens)
I assumed this was because tvaddons was down ... so i downloaded something called superrepo today ... however it still offers me exodus and i still have the same problem ... so is the problem actuall exodus? And what else should i use?
All this wookie , magic build stuff fries my brain

"Do none of you people realise that you're stealing and doing people out of U.K. based jobs???"
See now what i want to watch (line of duty seasons 3 onwards) i cant actually find on any legitimate site ... so if nobody offers it then whos job am i impacting? . Seasons 1 and 2 were watched on paid service netflix ... not my fault they get you hooked then dont give you an option to carry on |

"VPN
No need to pay for one.
Opera browser has one built in and if you're not happy with that then add the Windscribe addon which is also free.
You're welcome. "
How do you use Opera as a vpn on a kodi box |

You should have a browser, search for ipvanish app and download it,
Settings More Settings Wireless & networks More VPN
Click on + or Add VPN
Fill the VPN name (it can be anything)
Make sure the PPTP Protocol is selected
Choose a VPN server from this list https://account.ipvanish.com/index.php?t=IP%20List and enter it in the address field.
Check the “enable encryption” option
Save
Tap the VPN to test connection and login with your IPVanish credentials
In the top right corner you should find an option to keep your VPN connection always enable so you won’t need to do this again next time. When you turn on your Android TV Box, the VPN will be already enable |
