I used to work for a very large Mini-Cab Company in London, i picked up this little old lady and we got chatting, I asked her what she did for a living, she told me she was an Actress, I asked if she was in anything I've heard of, she told me that she was in a Tv Show back in the 70's/80's called Rentaghost it was Mrs Meaker !! So anyone had that situation? |

I have. Kinda.
Years ago I had to go and collect a parcel from the local Post Office Delivery centre (whatever it was called) and spotted a chap I recognised and so started having a conversation with him and then it dawned on me exactly where I'd recognised him from - the telly.
I felt so embarrassed. I apologised and explained and I have to say, he was fine about it - and we carried on chatting |

Bob from 'Rita, Sue, and Bob too'.
Saw him in a corner shop on a Sunday morning looking like he'd had a heavy night. Knew he was off the telly but couldn't place him so my brother went and asked him what we would have seen him in. He was alright considering he was clearly a bit worse for wear.

Johnny Marr...... to be fair I wouldn't know him from Adam. I only knew who he was as he was coming to collect his son who had been working as my assistant on a summer school many years ago.
I was never a big smiths fan, and didn't pretend to be. We sat and had a brew while waiting for his son to finish tidying up. Just a plain ordinary convo about weather, football and other shit. A very down to earth guy.
It was quite a posh summer school in Altrincham. There were kids of a few celebs attended....a few footballers, couple of Corrie "stars". Nobody made any fuss when they came to collect their kids.... |

I used to serve Ali Campbell from UB40 in a pub I worked at when I was 18, I thought he was just a rude orange faced tosser. One night the whole band came in and apologised all night for him. Left a fiver tip each for all the staff. |

Clayton Blackmore years ago he used to play for Manchester United and it was while he was in the team.
I had no clue who he was, even when he told me his name I didn't ask his occupation. He spoke to me in a supermarket and we got on really well. I gave him my number and he called me and asked me out. The thing was that someone had seen me talking to him, and told me who he was and the fact he had a girlfriend, so I wasn't going to be the one he had an affair with.

yes, I didn't recognise Black Lace :-
It was years ago when I was working at a holiday camp down south and I was on stamp duty on the door of the dining room and they walked in, all wild hair and leather pants (this was in the 80's)..they weren't going to stop so I just stood up and said 'who do you think you are', and one fella said 'we're black lace' to which I replied 'who?' they seemed somewhat incredulous that I had no idea who they were |

Yes. I went to a Man United and England player's wedding and was standing near some Man United players. I didn't realise who they were until my friend started introducing them to other friends.

Depends what you call a Celebrity
One of the chuckle brothers, Paul, lent me his inhaler while I was having an asthma attack while on shift (at the shop I worked at the time) to save someone going to my locker for mine and I didn't recognised it was him until a colleague pointed it out.
Turns out he actually lives close by so I then saw him shopping there quite regularly after that |

Didn't meet them but during a telephone call one of S Club 7 did the whole "Do you know who I am?" I answered honestly that I didn't so she complained to a manager accusing me of being deliberately insolent |

Sat next to Lisa Snowdon on a flight to Italy years ago. Spent the flight chatting to her and only found out who it was when I got back and saw pics in the paper of her and George Clooney. No wonder she didn't give me her phone number |

We booked them a music festival in North Wales that I work for. Sorry but a nice pair of guys you could never meet. Best of it was they were meant to PA for a couple of hours and had whisky on their rider. Well a rather large bottle was purchased and they stayed for 8 hours. Safe to say my childhood has been well and truly ruined but my God was it worth it they were fucking hilarious!
Imagine the chuckle brothers v's Frankie Boyle and you're 50% the way there!!! |

Beverley Collard - the cougar / barmaid type from Coronation St (I never watch it)chatted me up a few years ago.
Apparently she had a thing for younger guys, but I had to dash to an appointment otherwise I'd have been right in there! |

"How would I know if I didn't recognise them???
If you found out their name? Or someone else tells you who they are? Just a couple of weird ideas about how it might be. "
Well said ! No one likes a smart arse |

Met a few famous footballers when my ex worked for BMW.
Hadn't a clue who half of them were and still don't.
It was only when ppl asked for autographs I thought I'd heard the names.
One was Peter Crouch, one was Soul Campbell.
Met some others but no idea who they were. |

I was having my picture taken at 'sparkle' (trans pride) and a pretty lady turned round, smiled and joined me for the picture.
She asked my name and then I asked hers.
She looked so shocked that I didn't know her. To be honest, I'd never even heard of the tv thing she's in. Some housewives rubbish.

I met Michael Parkinson many moons ago at a rugby match at the old Halifax ground Thrum hall. He was stood behind me in the queue for the butty stand I had to get 2 coffees and a tea I was 10p short and he gave it to me so I didn't
Have to run back to my mum I was about 9 yrs old. He was really nice while queuing up we had been talking about the match and how crap the ref was for both teams. It was my mum who told me who he was when we saw him walking out at the end of the game. |

Yeah.
Cheryl Cole.
I've been within 10ft of her and didn't even know it was her until somebody pointed and told me, even then they had to tell me TWICE because she's that fucking short and tiny it was system shocking.
Really, she is a SMALL lady.
Wikipedia has her at 5'6. No way is she 5'6. She's also anatomically TINY.
Also, when you think of Cheryl Cole, you get this mental image of how you *think* she should look, I mean, she's attractive, but she's nothing like how you would expect.
Anybody who has seen her in the flesh, up close, will relate to this.
She was a complete shock.
There are few others but she was the most unrecognisable in the flesh to me. |
