"The Wire.
Should probably just end the thread now.
No tv show even comes close to the depth of The Wire. "
Everything else that David Simon has done after the The Wire. Treme is one of my all time favourite shows...
West World and Brain Dead are my two favourite shows from the last coupla years... |

Guessing for it to be great would have to be a show you find yourself watching again and again even if you know it word for word but still love it.
Using that as a guide mine is either Father Ted or Porridge. |

Never saw the attraction of Father Ted.
Maybe it's because hubby is a Paddy?? |

Over the generations probably Blue Peter......
Although strangely as someone who now avoids anything that even remotely anthropomorphises animals I loved Animal magic and Tales by the river-bank when I was a kid...

There and to the left a bit |
Think this thread just goes to prove that it's not possible to pick a single one - there are good shouts for so many:
Dad's Army
Game Of Thrones
Frasier
Cheers
The Young Ones
Blackadder
I could go on..and on...and on |

So many great shows but I think as a measure you need to look at what shows are good and what shows that when youre chanel flicking and it comes on you can watch again no matter how many times you've watched it and for me there's only two programs that can do that.
1 Friends
2 only fools and horses.

Starfleet! (At least, it was the bestest thing ever as far as I was concerned when I was a four year old) Ah, nostalgia!

For me it's 30 Rock.
It's a masterclass in how to craft comedy. Layering slapstick, callback jokes, satire, parody and sight jokes in just the right amounts.
Tina Fey is a goddess among men |
