Outdoor hot tub swingers - giving the game away?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi - we're keen to invest in a hot tub for fun, and something appropriate to house it in. Does anyone have a wooden summer house with a hot tub inside? If so, how do you ventilate it without letting the whole neighbourhood hear the panting and moaning!?!? |

Practical - maybe a baffle to help absorb the noise on the outlet from the fan.
Just having a hottub will give most people an idea of what is likely to happen. Hell even if not a swinger when in a hottub with partner who doesn't fool about?
Just make sure you keep the noise reasonable as the night drags on, don't want a noisy council noise officer peeking in do you. |

If you get a hot tub someone will see it being delivered, one neighbour will talk to another and soon all will know you have it. The best option is to invite neighbours round, have a bbq and play music. Then next time they hear anything they assume its just another normal party. |

Soundproofing an extractor will have minimal effect unless the summer house is itself sounproof.
Both can be done as a DIY job. And if you follow an experts advice can be very effective. Message me for exact details (too longwinded for this forum).
I agree that having non swinger parties (don't have to be for neighbours) will give the impression that you've nothing to hide, so no one will suspect. |

Im a bit of a Heath Robinson type so I'd have a more noisy interesting device near to their fence to occupy nosy neighbours with.... I've always found distraction techniques work the best Having said that my neighbours would want in - they love visiting swinging clubs.... |

Hope you not on a water meter cos you will need to change the water often if u have lots of people doing alsorts in there ..will you have shower facility and toilets there or will they have to use the house for that. ? lol line the shed with polystyrene and boarding that will help sound proof. |

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack! |
Putting it in a shed is a good idea. I would have thought that a extractor fan would be adequate vetilation but add a flexible tube like a tumble drier one and point it at the ground. I think some of that insulating board, the stuff that about 3" thick would help keep the heat in and deaden some of the sound too. Make sure any windows can`t be seen from other houses or can be covered. Make sure the floor is well supported of course!
As others have said, invite neighbours round at first so they won`t take any notice of when you use it with others! |

You will regret enclosing the hot tub. We have had one for five years across two houses and it was firstly enclosed in a wooden gazebo, then a canvas one and now it is out on its own.
There is nothing better than being fully outdoors especially in the depths of winter. Just one bit of advise - place it as close to your house as you can because believe it or not it is the distance you need to walk to it that will determine how much use it gets.
As for noise, just put all the jets on it will cover all but the most sadistic of screams. |

Another common mistake. Thinking that because something is a good heat insulator it's also a good sound insulator. Again I say. ASK SOMEONE THAT KNOWS. not think they know. |

My hot tub is very close to the house and surounded by trellis covered in plants to hide it from view. I don't worry about the sound as I always have the jets on in there. Have also had lots of raucous, but totally innocent parties in it lol |
