To what extent is your phone at the cutting edge? Do you generally have one of the very best, or have you not bought in to the craze for constant replacement, with somewhat better specs?
I'm not full luddite, I did replace my candy bar phone that had a keypad , with a touchscreen model a couple of years ago. But I do sim only tariffs that give me freedom to manage and replace when I want to - often when they stop working . |

I have an iPhone 6s which was new at the time but that was only because my last phone physically died on me so I needed a new one anyway. But my contract has recently expired and rather than renew with the latest model I've just gone sim only and retained my old handset.
Normally I'm not bothered by cutting edge technology - still not got a blue ray player or anything like that. I can't understand those people that queue at midnight to be the first to get something whether it's a new phone or game or whatever.
Wait a few months and the price invariably falls!
I haven't played computer games for years now really but whenever the new FIFA game used to come out, people would scramble to get the new version every year.
I used to head to the local Game store and you could get last years pre-owned version for a couple of quid versus the current version for £45+. No brainer for me. Play a year in arrears.

I am at the bottom of the phone food chain in our family. I'm happy with everyone elses's cast offs as they upgrade. That said I have a 5S and a 5C waiting as a spare. It's just a phone. If I had my choice I wouldn't even carry one... |

I tend to end up with hubbies cast offs so think at present I am 5 phones back from the latest.
It's usually the battery that goes before the phone.
It works, it rings and I can message and KIK on it so all good.
We aren't brain washed by having to have the latest model. |

I'm a professional geek, and I love tech, luckily my contract is based on usage, but entitles me to the newest latest phone every two years... for no extra money.
