From my experience no...winks do not work... probably don't even get seen half the time.. I think the best thing is to network face to face and just concentrate on friendships... that way they get to really see and know you before you know it friends of friends have heard recommendations and before you know it...Shazam! i ignore and delete most winks, as they tend too have no face pic and demand you send yours first, when a profile demands i delete them and send it to mars |

Yeah winks are great - just a little ice breaker to show you are interested. I guess women and couples can get loads so could go unnoticed - but I always notice when I get winked at! |

I've been winked by both couples and women, I've winked and messaged back and nothing, so I'd say they don't.
Not sure if they're just trying to mess with people's heads when they do this. |

There's lots of things that can torpedo the boat though even if the pics are ok...A username that makes us go  , a profile that's hypocritical or not telling the truth  , we think that the person is married and playing away  or they clearly haven't read our profile  . |

We didn't return the wink for a couple of reasons. The first being..You won't meet smokers so we would be incompatible. The second being..We think you're married and the third (even though our profile doesn't state it) we're only looking for bi guys if they're playing as a single. Does that affect your research results as I know most ignored winks don't generally get a written response. |

They're very effective for some people, whereas others completely ignore them.
If I'm winked I see it as a sign of interest and will then message from there. That said, if I want to connect with somebody then I know I'm far more likely to get a response by sending a nice message than by winking. |

I reply to winks that people have sent, if I potentially fancy them. I'd expect others who are not trying to shag me to just message me.
Winks and messages will be ignored it you're not their type, or they're slower etc. Some don't respond to winks, so don't send them if their profile is clear. |
