There are so many unanswered questions out there. What confuses you most? Lets see if any fabbers can shed some light!
Id like to know how space can go on forever?! If space is just a vacuum so essentially nothing then how is it even a thing and surely all things have a beginning middle and end?!?! |

What's with all the thinking stuff
I mean I love space and all, and enjoy nothing more than an existential debate/conversation, but I get to turn my brain off on fab.

It's all just our best approximation of what we thing space might be in the context of all the other interpretations we've made about our universe. The truth is we don't really know anything when you consider our limited perspective on things but we create a narrative and try to fit all the best findings we have into it until another more compelling one comes along and we work off of that...
Mind boggling to think of all that there is to know and how little will be understood... |

But does space go on forever?
Some think it is constantly expanding, out from the Big Bang and at some point it will start folding in on itself.
Or to put it another way: "Fire bad. Tree, pretty" |

Perhaps it is expanding into the space between universes.
That somewhere out there is a universe older than ours that is contracting and we are expanding to take that space, or we are pushing it to contract.

"Why do we have space and then deep space, surely it's one and the same. And why do we get black holes in space when it's essentially a giant hole x "
A black hole is a compressed star that has collapsed in on itself to the point that not even light can escape it. |

Surely death, in terms of a sentient being, is the point at which that sentient being ceases to be sentient?
If you could rearrange my atoms so I was a chair but I retained my sense of self then I haven't died. Rearrange my atoms into a chair and I lose my sense of self... I've ceased to exist. I am dead regardless of the comfortable wing back chair that still exists. |

Apparently contrary to initial thoughts we arent here because of the big bang. But are a result of the recoil of the big bang and therefore could all dissapear *just like that* when the 'snap back' occurs.
How pathetic is that. We aren't even the fun bit. Just a bit of fluff on the end of the real event.

Are you saying people who are in a comma/unconscious are dead ?
I know they're still able to feel things but there are ilnesses which prevent you from feeling physical pain and combined that with being unconscious or in a comma you could be therefore classified as dead. |

Using that logic, are we ever born?
And to answer both, it depends on what you class as "you". If "you" are just atoms, then you will never be born, and never die, you'll just be.
If "you" are the result of those atoms interacting with each other to produce a sentient being with actions memories and feelings, then when those interactions stop, "you" must be able to die. |

When we die we decompose so the matter becomes something else.
What happens to our conscious is a different matter. |

I like this one. We do know our bodies contain energy (electrical) so what happens to it when the body stops functioning? Does it cease to be or just dissipate to levels so low we can't detect it and float around as what we call a soul. |

Energy cant be created or destroyed only transformed to another state.
Logic says it becomes static energy, I argue it becomes Death Buzz |

Ok, so can that static energy contain traces/memories of our former lives and find it's way into newborns, ie reincarnation and deja vu, memories of past lives etc? |

Here's the thing Hopster, space isn't a thing, it's the things inside it that are things. Now this begs the question, if the things inside space are things that exist then the space between then must be some kind of thing - right? How can you measure a distance of nothing? This kind of thing blows my mind and reminds me of my favourite quote from Carl Sagan:
"The Cosmos is all that is, ever was or ever will be".
There's also another quote about thinking too hard and your brain falling out but I'll leave that there... |

I can't tell if this is flippancy or a lack of understanding. I'll assume the latter.
A black hole isn't a hole. It is a region of such strong gravitational forces that even light can't escape.
This appears as a black hole in space. |
