What monsters in movies had you hiding behind the sofa, running out of the room or gave you nightmares as a kid?
For me, I remember the Morlocks from The Time Machine (1960) giving me nightmares when I was little.
Talos from Jason and the Argonauts was pretty scary for me as a kid. It was just when he looks down at the camera with his empty soulless eyes that always made me feel uncomfortable.
Medusa from Clash of the Titans was downright terrifying and still is pretty scary to this day. I can still remember as a kid leaving the room when she was on screen as I couldn't bare to look at her hideous face and waited until she got decapitated before I could reenter the room. |

"Technically not a monster... But the Childcatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang still gives me the willies.... "
This can count as he is quite a monster on a psychological level |

That's actually a very good call!
I remember watching 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' as a young 12 year old on a VHS sneaked home past my Mum and good old Freddie did freak me out a little bit! I pretended he didn't though to my mates the next day |

Bit more ghostly but I thought The Conjuring 2 Enfield was well done in parts
Agree with Alien
I think it's the suspense when your imagination has to fill in thd blanks as opposed to lots of special fx |

"alien ... when the film first came out and i was young .... it was pretty intense"
I remember watching the Alien movies when I was a kid and my young eyes back then couldn't hand some of the kills especially the chestburster scenes |

"You would think with all the CGI available today, Horrors would have improved but we cant say we have seen anything recently as good as those mentioned in this thread."
Yeah. It appears most horror movies today just seem to be too reliant on cheap jump scares rather than use atmosphere and suspense to create good scares. |

Mine is typical, it's Freddy Kruger, still scares me to death and embarrassed to say, even knowing someone was dressed as him and coming after me during a game of quaser (spelling?) I nearly cried |
