I was just on my way to visit a customer to discuss a quote for their new bathroom. I've got all the required trades involved but have struggled to find someone that does flooring.
On the way, I stop to let someone turn into a car park and their car breaks down in the middle of the road.
I get out to help the guy push his car into the car park and notice he's wearing workman's trousers, so I ask him what his trade is...
Any guesses?
Anyone else had any nice coincidences recently? |

Maybe it's just me or does that sound a bit homo-erotic....like the prelude to a moustachioed snog fest over a hot car bonnet.....

I have experienced fortuitous coincidences occasionally but there have been many occasions when I wished for one and it didn't happen.

I often find the universe provides me with films on TV that I think about and they are simply broadcast a couple of days later.
It's does not work with Money or women sadly no matter how hard I think about it. |

It's been a long time since that sort of synchronicitous event has happened though they do tend to happen for me when I need them most.
The most bizarre was 21 years ago when I was experiencing deeply troubling physical sensations. I had no idea what was happening. I was walking through Waterstones and bumped into a shelf, knocking a book into the floor. I picked up the book and read the back cover. I discovered the book was all about what I was experiencing and frankly, stopped me from going bananas |

"I get out to help the guy push his car into the car park and notice he's wearing workman's trousers, so I ask him what his trade is..."
When we bought our current house and were going through the whole painting and decorating malarky I would often do the nursery run dressed into paint spattered workman's trousers. Paint up my arms, splashes in my hair.
One of the mums at the nursery saw me and her eyes lit up. She came over... "What trade are you in?", eyeing up my besmirched attire.
"Me? I'm a software engineer." I look down at my clothes and back up at her. "I'm really not very good at my job."
Fun fact, that was the last any of the parents ever spoke to me at that nursery.
(sorry, I've got no story of cosmic coincidence to share so I thought I'd share this instead) |

Life is actually like that sometimes though and it can be extremely difficult to stay positive. Nothing endures, circumstances always change and life will always be a series good, bad and average times. The best any of us can do is try to stay positive but its ok if sometimes you can't. |

I'm trying not to push things but it feels like the universe still has it out for me.
Just once I'd like things to go my way.
I heard some wise men say that everything will be alright in the end, and if everything is not alright, it's not the end.
Hand in there brother. The longer you go through shit, the sweeter things'll be on the other side... x
I keep going through the shit and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
Grass always seems greener on the other side.
Life is actually like that sometimes though and it can be extremely difficult to stay positive. Nothing endures, circumstances always change and life will always be a series good, bad and average times. The best any of us can do is try to stay positive but its ok if sometimes you can't. "
I went through a really crap period of my life about a year ago.
Some of that negativity still hangs about and comes to the surface. |

I bought a Samsung tab E last week from Very and decided I didn't like it but also couldn't return it . Should have gone with the tab A like I originally planned (then it went down in price over the weekend as well )
Anyway I decided to just make the best of it and the bloody thing won't charge!!!
So it's going back as faulty and I've ordered a tab A |

It can. It's also quite easy to get into the habit of being negative especially if you're surrounded by negative energy. Take pleasure in the small things, hope life continues to improve for you |

I believe that positivity is a good thing and remaining positive in difficult circumstances really helps. I've spent enough years struggling to be positive in the face of very negative attitudes in my work place, it was a factor in deciding to take early retirement but it paid dividends in terms of my personal happiness and how other people perceived me.
However I think that advising positivity even in the face of the worst adversity denigrates others pain. Sometimes it just isn't possible to see any good outcome from a situation and relentless positivity in the face of that can make people feel their patronised.

"Lovely story, OP!
I do believe that if you put gratitude and positivity out there, then you do get it back. "
True that! Gratitude is one of the best filters you can put on your life! |

"I always look for the positive even in a very negative situation.
There is always a silver lining somewhere. "
Yup! It's all learning! Every negative situation is an opportunity for growth... |

That's a really good point. It's not always possible to put a positive spin on a situation. But it's still good to try to look at how to move forwards in a positive and healthy way... |

I agree and I'm a huge advocate of that. However in the moment, in the first days of bereavement or huge life changing disaster the positivity needs to come from the support of other people and it should be acknowledged that what has happened has no saving grace.
I don't suggest that anyone on this thread is like this but I always think of Anne Atkins an agony aunt who was so relentlessly positive about every situation that it translated to complete lack of empathy, sympathy or understanding. She reckoned to have "cured" her husband's depression with "oodles of fresh air" and a pull your socks up attitude.
I am believe it or not, one of life's positive people though . I find it very interesting reading other people's interpretation of how positivity is applied. |

"positivity needs to come from the support of other people and it should be acknowledged that what has happened has no saving grace."
Yes. Sensitivity to a situation is important. Sometimes just being there for someone and supporting them through the sad times is all you can do... |
