This is one of the curses of being beautiful and having soft and delicate skin. Happens to me all the time. X |

"could it be PMLE?"
Ouch. I get that as well as burning anywhere that's exposed. And yes, my legs stay lilywhite regardless. A high factor suncream formulated for sun sensitive skin is the only preventative measure that works (normal high factors stop me burning but don't stop PMLE); I have to start wearing it around April each year. |

My lower legs don't tan either I came back from Turkey last year looking like I'd been wearing leg warmers round the pool, lovely brown thighs, knees and feet, lower legs as white as they were when I flew out |

I use a pre tan accelerator and / or the piz buin sun cream / after sun which are called tan and protect - I used to have this problem but now get a lovely colour all over takes a while to go but when it does it's good! X These products help bring the melonin to the surface and I find they actually seem to stop prickly heat too x |

I'm going away in 4 weeks, I've been trying to sit in the sun to get a little bit of colour going but really so I don't burn when I'm away.
Arms....yes slight difference. Legs....just seem to reflect the sun, I think I'm going to take them otherwise I'm going to look like a right twat! |

It's because your upper body/arms is regularly exposed to uv light, even on cooler days you'll wear a tshirt so the skin on your arms is always exposed to that low level of uv, so even though you don't always noticed that part of the body is essentially continually tanning, legs are less regularly exposed especially from the knee upwards |

I find best tan I get is walking not sunbathing. Wear no straps and shorts .Always get nice tan at Cornwall walking along beach or cliff tops .It's my scalp that burns. Need to get nice hat |

Pretty sure it has something to do with yours arms being used to the sun more, for example most people have at least part of their arms on display during everyday activities whereas it's not every day that their legs come out so I think it has something to do with That although I could be wrong haha |

My shins take ages to tan. I think it's because I scratch them a lot, because they itch really bad. The skin scars and takes longer to tan.
That could be a load of bollocks though |

My knees caught the sun yesterday, my shins didn't. I think it's to do with the angle of the sun rays and exposure to the light. |

I'm finding the same using sunbeds. The bits of me that have seen the sun in the past and tanning well the other bits are tanning but slowly.
I've found that the sunbed isn't making any difference to my pain but it is making me feel better and more relaxed and happy so I'm gonna keep going.
