If after about six weeks you get aching muscles get the doctor to change your brand.

I take them one month on one month off have done for years, cholestrol seems good and doctor is non the wiser.

Well at least you have taken them at the right time of day. Night time, not morning

Top tip if using statins take extra coenzyme Q10 as they lower your levels and these are essential and this decrease might be part of the reason for side-effects. Besides, do a bit of critical reading about cholesterol and the important it is for the body, the more the older we get.

Mr N was prescribed them. I found the terrifying flatulence hilarious. The muscle pain was no fun. After about two months he decided to stop taking them, adjust his diet, take more exercise and drink a cholesterol reducing drink everyday. Its worked.

Wouldn't advise anyone else to stop taking them though.

I basically live on oily fish and olive oil these days. I walk 6 miles a day and cycle. But i have suffered with atrial fibrillation. During an Angiogram they noticed a build up in an artery so now they've put me on statins.....5 years later!

I know this thread isn't about cholesterol, but it's been mentioned so I'm gonna jump in. I had the call from the docs today to say mine is really high and that I'm anaemic, so I gotta go see the nurse tomorrow. Booooooo.

I think recent research showed that side effects were largely related to the individuals expectations of the side effects they'd get.

More than enough evidence to make me think twice about ever using them. And more than enough for members of my family to reconsider how to go about 'Controling' their cholesterol levels

My cholesterol were always ok, so i was told. Then doc wanted me to take statins for other reasons, now my cholesterol is high !! I have lots of muscle pain and asked to come off the statins. Doc isnt very happy about that though.
