A House is not a home.....Original 1964 Dionne Warwick.
Recorded since by Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Lulu, Shirley Bassey.....and many more.
But not until Luther Vandross recorded it was the song really done justice....according to the guys that wrote the song....Bacharach and David. |

Dillinger escape plan covering Justin timberlakes "like I love you" you dont expect a band like that to cover a song like that. Not a timberlake fan but d.e.p really opened my ears as to how good a song it actually is |

Oh, another one that I only found out about recently...
Tainted Love - Soft Cell
the original was by Gloria Jones... (www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKUjI_CbIY0 in 1964). I'd always thought Soft Cell's version was the only one. |

Yes Gloria Jones, great track, unfortunately she is better known for driving the car Marc Bolan was killed in. |

Ooh, thanks. I didn't know that either... I'm learning lots of things today!
That could come in useful for a pub quiz. |

Crazy Nights by Susanna and The Magical Orchestra isn't better than the Kiss version, but it is very good.
Anything by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, especially Rocketman, The Boxer, Mandy, I Believe I Can Fly, Rainbow Connection |

Depends on the mood Im in whether I prefer
"I will always love you" by Dolly or Whitney.
Alex Burke is lightyears away from Geoff Buckleys version of "Halelujah"
And for a rollicking ripoff do yourselves a favour and get seriously close to "The Devil went to Jamaica...." |

Noooo that is my favourite Soft Cell track! It can't be done better... ever!
You do realise I will now have to listen to the David Grey version now even though I don't like him just in case! Grrrr |

I think Soft Cells version is as good as the Gloria Jones Tainted Love soul classic.
The Soft Cell gents were regulars at The Famous Wigan Casino Soul alnighters in the late 1970s,
They also did quite a good cover version of the,
Judy Street soul classic, What.

It wasn't better per se but I liked McFly's 'Baby's Coming Back' because Jellyfish songs should be at #1 more often.
And here's the original:

Any Beatles fan should love such quality songwriting and recordage. Also fans of Abba, Queen and Gilbert O'Sullivan, who they said were their influences.
This is my fave JF:

Does anyone recall one of them falling off stage when they were performing on one of the Saturday morning kids programmes ? |

A plaque has been erected where Marc Bolan died.
It simply reads - DANGER - TREE |
