"What do you call a sheep tied to a lampost in Swansea???

Ho hum!!!

typical French humour.

When the french (who eventually became the english) invaded Britian in 1066, they fought their way through what is now known as England very quickly, and then their thoughts turned to the West.

They approached the Welsh border, and there, atop Offa's Dyke, was a lone Welsh warrior. The Taff yelled out a challenge.

The head honcho of the froggies sent his best warrior, and the taff dived behind the dyke.

There was a sound of furious fighting, and then silence.

Then the Taff appeared and yelled out another challenge.

This time the froggies sent ten of their very best, and again the Taff dived down behind the dyke to meet them.

More sounds of battle, and, sure enough, there appeared the Taff again, issuing another challenge.

Extremely pissed off by now, the froggie boss sent 100 froggy warriors, and againt there ensued sounds of battle being made.

Silence, and then the froggies spotted a warrior staggering back to his own lines, bloodied, battered and near death.

The boss hurried to him, just in time to hear his dying words....

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.... dont send any more warriors, its an ambush, there's two of them!!!

Friends of ours bought an old country cottage that had not been lived in for yrs and as such, the gardens were overgrown with brambles, bushes and allsorts of vege stuff.

They hired a couple of goats from a local farm and the goats cleared the lot in a couple of weeks.

As soon as the vegetation was down to ground level they were able to get the rotovators in to get the roots out.

They thought they would have to get loads of skips and tree shredders to clear it, but the two goats did a grand job. Only needed to give them a shelter and fresh water.

When the job was done the goats went back to the farm.

Could have sworn I had posted a message on this thread before..ho hum.

don't forget about fencing, post and rails is fine for horses but you will need netting for sheep. Perhaps you could offer a farmer/smallholder free grazing to some of their sheep over the summer months?

Don't get Blackface fgs- they have no respect for boundaries. Some nice poncy Home Counties breed might do. Sheep are a total pain- they need feet trimming, wormed, vaccinated, fed in winter, paperworK to move from one field to the next, handling facilities and die just to peeve you off further. How about borrowiung a neighbour's or a couple of stirks for the summer? Hope your fences are good

Rydale's are good for beginners, but if there's a shepherd in the next village why not discuss it with them and get their advice?

Have Shetland Sheep here, but got them because they are hardy and well able to look after themselves in the climate up here

Mick Jagger sang 'Hey you get offa mah cloud' In Scotland they sing 'Hey McCloud get offa my ewe....'

Two Australian shephers are flying new stock of sheep to a remote outback farm. Suddenly the engines fail. Quick shouts one shepherd - grab a parachute and jump.

What about the sheep? says the other shepherd.

Fuck the sheep says the first man wrestling with his parachute.

Have we got time? says the second shepherd...
