I really wish there was a 'none of the above' option when voting, that would be counted and numbers announced. Then maybe the politicians would see exactly how many people really think the options are a pile of shite.
Mind you, there would prolly still people still too lazy to go and vote - even if it were to say 'I think you are all a pile of wank' . |

No that is NOT the same as no one ever counts spoiled votes and delivers them at the final count.
Its an important distinction, because if statistics report that 30% of the country voted .None of the above' it sends a clear message that the political parties are not aligning themselves to a significant proportion of the voting populace.
Not casting your vote lowers the turnout ratio and so is actually counted in a statistic.
So spoiling your ballot is pointless. |

Spoiled votes are counted and it shows someone has taken the time to vote and chosen no one. By staying at home and not voting you are just counted as one of the 15 million or so that are uninterested in which party is running the country. It's everyone's democratic right to vote or Not, but simply not turning up counts for nothing. Blank and spoiled votes are counted. |

I disagree, personally i believe going to the polling station and spoiling you voting slip is expressing an opinion. That way you are counted amd clearly differentiated from those to apathetic to vote |

Switched the other way around it makes an awful lot of sense though.
If you don't have your own opinion you can't vote.
Feel strongly in your convictions. Do research. Make your own choice!
At least that way, when you do vote, you've voted for reasons that are right for you. |

With all the tech available today, we see no need for politicians, it's just jobs for the posh boys (and girls) of course. |

As much as I hate politic,s and often the way things are run along with everything else said about politicians because a big chunk of that is true too.. the main reason I vote is because my parents were part of that generation who helped keep hitler off these shores at a high price in human terms, spoiled votes and abstaining from wanting to vote is your own personal choice of course but just think of the lives that were lost to give you the right to vote. |

Technically if it was in FPTP elections then yes because any votes that wasn't for the winner don't count, but you can say you've participated. And if it was close then you make other candidates think they have a chance.
I've had my postal ballot sat in front of me for a week, and I cant choose which of the four idiots to vote for. I despise at least one of each of their policy's. |
