Just been into town n walking past a shop I caught a glance of myself side on n thought. Oh fuck I'm getting fat. Was just about to slide into the doldrums when a few paces further on a d*unk yells out to me. "Hey baby you've got an ass like beyoonnncceee"

I have so many childhood memories of Rhyl. I was there last year. Wanted to show the kids the magic of the place as I remember it. Its looking very sorry for its self. And without the sun centre and the old fair ground its not the same. Looking though the windows of the sun centre and seeing it empty of water and devoid of human life and laughter was gutting. My kids will never know what a great place it was. Almost like a little bit of me died.

There and to the left a bit

Gawd that takes me back...errrr far too many years....my Nan and Grandad used to take me on hols to Conway every year around when I was 7 or 8...Llandudno and Rhyl visits were always part of those....have vague recollections of Rhyl having (what seemed at the time) a huge track where you could hire bikes and other pedalled vehicles to ride round it.

Traffic land

I have very found memories of Rhyl. I learnt to swim at the Sun Centre, because I was determined to go in when the wave machine was going

I also remember walking back to our hotel from there one evening and the wind was blowing so hard the sand stung our legs

I must say I have a strange thing for dirty derelict seaside towns. I absolutely love the tatty old indoor market in Ryhl with its darkness, smells and parts of the ceiling collapsing.

I would hate it to become another modern souless sea front with fancy brickwork and pointless crome off the shelf sculptures everywhere, plus a Starbucks every 20 meters. Much prefer independent greasy spoons, chipshops with moulded plastic chairs and old school ice cream parlours.

The market is still there and being restored which is good but a lot of the buildings have been condemned so have gotta go. Xxx
