"I have a cold sore! How do I get rid of it?
Lots and lots of Vaseline/petroleum jelly on affected area lots of times during the day! It will usually dry out within 2/3 days.
"

Genital herpes can be caught from coldsores. Very easily if coldsore is active but also even when it's healed from the shedding skin cells.
There are two types of genital herpes type 1 and type 2... google for info if your concerned. |

You can't - lol. Once you catch it, it's there for good. You need to apply an anti-viral topical cream as soon as you feel the tingle
Me and sister must have a weakness to the coldsore virus. |

As a long term sufferer of cold sores and I've tried everything, a dentist told me of the petroleum jelly and it works but you need to apply lots regularly, also keep washing your hands which is very important. |

Aciclovir, as soon as you feel the tingle. Once it's out fully hold a cold cloth on it and wait for your immune system to fight it. don't eat anything that might irritate it, like salt and vinegar crisps. If it's painful take Ibuorofen or Paracetamol.
I recently had one come up after an infection from an op, where my immune system was low and then another came up a few weeks later. Sun and sea water bring mine on as well as feeling under the weather.
Hide your face under a brown paper bag, until you are no longer infectious. |

"Minimise your stress levels and maintain good health, as you may help to prevent future outbreaks. Treatment to suppress it is properly taken at the first hint that it's coming. "
Yeah I think that's my problem. Ive been a bit run down recently. I haven't had any in about 20 years so hopefully it'll be the same once this one goes! |

I absolutely swear by garlic. Cut a few slices and apply them a few times a day for a couple of minutes. absolutely killed mine instantly and stopped it developing further, and I never had one again. |

Aciclovir (zovirax). Kills the virus. Some people swear by aftershave or perfume, this never works for me
I did take a course of lysene and bought a lysene balm and haven't had one in ages. Avoid foods high in arginine as they can bring on cold sores too.
FYI, I work in health care |

I have also found rubbing jack Daniels on it works quite well but it will make your eyes water for a minute or two, longest I've had anything visible is one day |
