Im not overly romantic,, but it was more comedy..
Had a meet from here,, got to the hotel room and asked the guy at the front desk for a spare sheet, put it over the bed and then made a giant 'heart' shape out of Jaffa Cakes..
Was a very funny moment when he saw it.
Over to you lot :D
Think we all need a bit of love and some smiles on a day like today *hugs* |

I've been romantic in the past. Looking back, sometimes I feel I wasted my energy and my thoughts on them. But that was me, I wanted to do it. I like the idea of surprising people in a way they don't expect. Will appreciate a gesture for what it is.
do you have to be in love to be romantic though? |

I write music sometimes and record it for someone.
Another thing was to book a hotel room in the middle of the day. Take a girl there, (but had got there early... Rose petals in the hot bath, a lingerie present on the bed, prosecco chilled on the side. Not original, but was appreciated. |

i personally dont think you do..
i liked the guy i met.. certainly wasnt love. It made him feel good and made me feel good because he felt good..
Shame you feel you wasted energy.. at the time those moments must have been worth it x |

One of the most romantic things someone has done for me was to have 27 roses sent to me at work when we had been in a relationship for 27 months. They were absolutely stunning. |

Managed to get back from afghan a day early (previous soldier), flowers in hand, personalised/engraved jewelry in the other. She was gobsmacked and in instant tears, like an earlier post mentioned though, it feels a bit wasted looking back, but it was nice at the time |

I'm not romantic at all. I used to (when I was young and in my first love relationship) send "i love you cards" and teddy gifts etc but that all stopped when that ended.
My ex proposed quite romantically on holiday in Kefalonia. He found something in the sea, called me over to him (i thought it was a crab so swam off in opposite direction) but when he finally (took ages!) coaxed me over, he uncapped his hand and there was a diamond ring.
I still thought he had found it and someone had lost it swimming He had to clearly tell me then that he was proposing and had brought it over in his suitcase |

Yes. They did mean something. And I hoped they felt it. If for only a moment.
I feel romantic at times, it's hard when it has nowhere to go.
We like to be pampered and our needs to be catered for. I'd appreciate anyone doing something for me. Love or not. Just like me would suffice. |

Not the most romantic thing I've done but possibly the first I can remember...
I managed to carefully take apart a Kinder Egg, replace the toy with a necklace I'd bought for a gf and then put the egg back together again, wrapper and all. |

Surpise trip to New York for wifes (then girlfriend) birthday weekend when she was 30, with surprise tickets to Phantom Of The Opera on Broadway on the actual day of her birthday. Got home, threw a surprise party the following weekend and proposed with a diamond ring I had bespoke made. Cost me a fucking fortune those two weekends!! She's worth it though. |

It was a small thing. I bought my ex a Elma the Elephant teddy. We used to mouth colourful and elephant to one another because it is supposed to look like 'I love you'
So I bought here a colourful elephant to say 'I love you, I love you' |

For sure - the cost was largely irrelevent to be fair. I only really mentioned it for comedy effect!
I'm not big into musicals - generally prefer gigs - but Phantom was amazing. If you get the opportunity to see it then sieze that opportunity. |

I made vouchers for a boyfriend for Valentine's Day, from sweet romantic things to more sexy ones, to be redeemed at a time of his choosing.
Every year on our anniversary I gave my husband a cream rose and thistle, the flowers from my bouquet, for each year we'd been married. Ten was our last anniversary, it was getting expensive |

I don't think you do... I'm a hopeless romantic myself and always doing silly little things for people I like (meets included) because I know it will make them smile, and they know me well enough not to read anything more into it than wanting to make them feel appreciated |

I made a memory box for an ex boyfriend's birthday, containing lots of little things like a mug I had gotten a photo printed on (a pic of a cupid heart I had once made him from M&Ms and texted to him when he was feeling blue), a lambretta tshirt because he loved scooters and kept saying he wanted to have one again sometime, a framed pic of him holding the first ever fish he caught (I had brought him on his first fishing trip), a glass bowl with a candle and small bag of seashells to put into it that I'd gathered from my local beach as a reminder of our first date.... |

I wrote her a book in the style of Roald Dahl, her favourite author. (and did my best to illustrate it in the style of Quentin Blake)
Parts of the story are based on experiences we've shared and adventures we've had. It ends looking towards the future we have together.
She doesn't know it exists yet. I plan on giving it to her this year on our wedding anniversary. |

I adore romance, and the way it makes you feel. Knowing someone has been thinking about you, and not only that, gone to the effort of doing something that shows you that. It doesn't need to be lavish or take huge amounts of effort. A little handwritten note left somewhere for you to find, something like that is utterly lovely.
Unfortunately it's been a very long time since I was on the receiving end of anything like that. |

When we lived separately I sent romantic gifts to the mr. There was a bear, balloon and those tiny message in a bottle things and a card etc. I just wanted him to know he was always in my thoughts even though circumstances kept us apart. I think I'm definitely the more romantic of the 2 but he does romantic gestures such as had baths ready for me after shifts or gives me massages etc. It's the little things that count |

Before my ex's mother passed away she would always read them the Just So stories at bedtime when they were little.
When they were going through a hard time during their finals (exams and passing of their mother), I drove from Aberdeen to Cambridge to give them a 1st edition of it I'd managed to source and a hug.
I dunno if that's romantic or no but I loved them and wanted them to remember that. |

Whilst on holiday in the Maldives, it was over Valentine's Day, so I arranged for a romantic dinner on the beach under the clear night full of stars, followed by a night in the deluxe water bungalows which you could see the clear blue water through the glass floor. This was instead of our regular bungalow accommodation for the fortnight and they didn't charge us extra for using the deluxe water bungalow. |

I once went to a meet in Derry took 24 red roses... the girl never turned up...
Driving home pissed off in the rain I saw a girl pushing a pram...stopped the car got out gave her the roses got back in the car and drove away...
Probably freaked her out completely...but it improved my day

I forgot to mention that the next morning I searched for the Champagne cork from the dinner on the beach and found it in the nearby bushes, presenting it to my partner when we were back home. |

I have made the grand gestures in the past. But as the years go on, I find that words can be the most memorable. Taking the time to say something caring, when your partner doesn't expect it can be as much of a show of love as anything.
Like saying, 'I wouldn't go in there for a couple of minutes if I was you Pet'
That sort of thing. |

"Well I thought romance was dead, until one day I awoke to a message from my lover saying,
Morning Saddle bags, come to mine this Morning do I can smash your cunt in. Love you x
What a keeper!
He's such a lovely man really. He kisses my wobbly bits and no other man has ever done that before, He also spoons in to me and snores in my ear like a pig again something I have never had before lol
Also as some of you know something happened to me in February my lover was the 1st person for me to have any sexual contact with after. He took me by the hand and we walked to bedroom to which he kissed me gently while undressing me so slowly, he took ever thing so slowly and made me feel like I was the only women in the world I could see the love pouring from his eyes as we made love and I cried happy tears. Never have I felt so special x
I know.
Hugs xxxxx"
Thank lisa hun xx he is a keeper really lol xx |

The most romantic thing my husband ever did was his proposal. We had just been for a fabulous meal for my his birthday when we got back to the hotel room I handed him his birthday card. Inside I had written "I hope you got everything you wanted for your birthday". He paused and excused himself before returning dropping to one knee in front of me and said "I got everything I wanted except one thing...your hand in marriage" he then presented the ring he had planned to give me the next day but he gave it to me then because it felt right.
He then told me he had made sure to ask my Dad's permission days previously as he knew how important that was to me. |

"I've don things in the past to try and make something good happen.
I don't do romance with Fab friends though "
Friends are friends where ever we find them
we should always hold them close... |

Oh I do, I've made true friends on here. But that's not romantic |

I am not big on bought presents...
and I am not a big romanic one...
however, making hearts in the snow, writing little things on pieces of paper that were important to is as a couple, cross stiched something that symbolises us as a couple (yeah I know...). these kind of things... |

I do romantic every now and then....from big gestures of days away to just baking cookies or a mushy unexpected text.
My best however was tickets to a particular boy/man band gig ...4 people on computers on sale day till we got them ... I put confirmation print out in her Christmas card... gave it to her last....I got squeals of delight then pinned to the floor |

Just remembering the little things they say and turning it into a surprise romantic gesture is a good tip. I remember my partner mentioning favourite ice cream being a dark chocolate chip, raspberry ripple ice cream whilst living in America, years ago.
So, one day, when we weren't actually a couple and he was in a relationship with another guy for 5 years, I made some dark chocolate chip ice cream with a raspberry ripple effect. No recipe, no idea if it was the type he described,?i just made it up. It was the best ice cream he had ever tasted and even better than the one in America, he said. I did that, just because, no specific reason or motive behind it. |

I'm an extreme romantic given the chance.
But it's more constant little things than grand gestures.
Like leaving cute love notes in his wallet or trouser pocket or in his shoes for him to find.
Making heart shaped pancakes, write I love you in whipped cream. Also can do heart shaped eggs and write with balsamic glaze.
Bought heart shaped post-it's and covered the wall, each one with some little thing that was special and loveable about him.
I'm looking forward to the day I can be in love again. |
