Ive been watching the news. The tactic this bastard used of setting off a bomb in thr foyer as parents picked up their kids is sick beyond belief.
They say its a terrorist attack, but not which 'cause' it was for. Whatever the 'cause', there can be no justification for attacking innocents.
Evil bastards. |

Full of praise to the MEN arena staff, emergency services n people who helped get others to safety, provided accommodation, lifts to those who got nowhere to go. Just hope those who work in the arena are recognised for their bravery to assist in quick safe evacuation |

I work in the Middle East, I see this kinda thing every single day, I suppose I have normalised the danger I face at work and am trained to deal with it in those situations.
However the difference in my feelings towards this attack at a concert that I almost was stood at with my 8 year old daughter is incredible. I am genuinely shaken by what has happened. |

I fully understand what you are saying...I don't see a coldness but a reality of fragility of life that comes from experience whatever that may be which makes some of us less surprised. If you've seen it and experienced it it doesn't mean we become cold to it, we still feel the pain and hurt, maybe in a deeper level than most but we become less surprised when it does happen. A deeper understanding of the pain and hurt of those directly affected will be the result. It's at times like this my faith in humanity becomes a little bit restored as people come together irrespective of their differences, religious or culture. The bomber also had a family, loved ones and close friends. Evil doesn't prevail. Good prevails. |

My little girl is a massive Ariana fan - she's got the perfumes, the t-shirts - the lot!
We went to see her at the MEN last year. We'd probably have been there last night if my daughter hadn't been on holiday with her dad (thank god)
The 'average' Ariana fan is around 9-14 years old. This evil person knew exactly what he was doing and who he was targeting!
Just found out that at least 2 of my daughters friends (they're 11 years old for god's sake) were at the concert and as yet I've no idea whether or not they're ok!
It's horrible!! |

It is sad and tragic what happened in Manchester last night. My thoughts go out to all the families affected.
These terrorist scumbags will never win as they are nothing but cowards.
Seeing how everyone in the Manchester community (hotels, taxi services) helped out those affected just shows that love will always triumph and we will never give in to fear. |

Got tickets for my daughters 8th birthday in October for little mix @ motorpoint arena in Cardiff.
I know we aren't supposed to let stuff like this stop us living our lives but I really don't want to go now, was apprehensive anyway because things like that are high risk.
Targets now are places where they (terrorists) can take out as many people as they can. Makes me want to avoid anything where there's large crowds of people. Shouldn't be like this but I'm a shit house and obviously want to keep my child safe. |

My thoughts are with all involved in this awful incident. It breaks my heart watching those loved ones still trying to contact loved ones that are still missing
I sighed a huge sigh of relief when I heard from my friend that she and her daughters was ok, in fact I cried
Also heard from a fab friend this morning, he and his daughter are fine
But so sad and upset that so many families were not so lucky |

Have to agree
All major cities have had many quick response tests runs and contingency plans in place for attacks such as last night |

If you were watching the incident, the bomb went off at 10:30- 10:45. Sky News live was showing the increasing of police and ambulance services by 12:00 -1am. They had been brought in from all across the boroughs. They didn't know what they were dealing with. Neither did the witnesses. Reporters and produces were interviewing people who had come out of the concert and they were as confused as everybody else. They believed at 1am that it was a balloon or a speaker that had blown up and were unaware of any attempt at life, though they knew there were casualties.
The amount of responders is due to the number of major hospitals close by - within a 10 minute radius, Manchester is pretty a compact city. GMP are one of the largest in the country. Again it wasn't until nearly 2 hours after the explosion that the forces turnout started to increase to the numbers that it did. |

We defeat terrorists by refusing to be terrified. I feel deeply for those lost and injured and those close to them but before living in fear let's keep reality in mind. I don't want to take anything away from the 22 people who died yesterday in this appalling act, each of the special. Do bear in mind an average 1400 people die in the UK every single day, 32 die because of accidents, every single day, 12,000 accidental deaths a year. We all have to take sensibile precautions to protect our loved ones but remember more people in the U.K. are killed by buses than by terrorists, I don't live in terror of buses so I dam well won't live in fear of these sick morons. They are pathetic, they are nothing. Let them know that their remains will be fed to pigs. |

For any event where a large crowd is expected, emergency services are either on site or 'waiting around the corner'.
At least, this is what I HOPE she meant. |

Not Isis. They are kiddie killing Muslims.
Every time we DONT SPECULATE and brush it off as a loan wolf with mental health issues it another victory for this religion.

It's pointless asking what causes lie behind such monstrosities. By doing so you're attributing rational thought to perpetrators who are mentally sick and far beyond any reasoning. If we are to treat them as humans, and not just malfunctioning machines, the only way we can talk about them is as severely mentally ill people whose actions are utterly meaningless. I refuse to honour them with any higher regard than that |

I've been to see my friend and her two daughters and I cannot put into words how I feel right now
Two girls age 12 and 16 who at any other time are vibrant, loud and outgoing are a shadow of what they was. It's heartbreaking to see these two girls the way they are. They are not normally clingy girls, but they are not letting their parents out their sights. They look so lost.
My friend is coping quite well considering and being strong for her daughters.
It sickens me the effects that it will have on these two girls and their mum for the rest of their days.
But we will all be there to help them through this traumatic time.
No adult should endure this let alone children.
My friend and her daughters was one of the lucky ones which I'm so thankful for.
But my heart goes out to those less fortunate, it truly is devastating |

Manchester is my home for 2 weekends a month.
It is a vibrant, fun, city. The people are willing to go out of their way to talk, help and generally be good no matter where your from
I know loads of people not only by the MEN (the staff of amours), but Manchester City centre, and the wider Manchester area.
It is known I am a staunch red, but today no matter what team you support blue or red we are Manc!!!!!!
The BBC have just announced he was a Man Utd supporter as a child...he is no supporter he is an evil sadistical bastard
I am off to Stockholm in a few hours and be catching up with fellow reds both from Manc but also European wide. We will be thinking of all of those back in Manchester
Rip the angels of Manchester - keep the Manchester flag flying high!!!!! |

One of the reasons I've got family beginning the process of returning to Israel is because of this attitude about Islam, as if it's just like Christianity. It's not safe for us anymore and the liberal virtue signalling Left care more about the Muslim community than they do about the victims. This is how Rochdale happened too. Attitudes like the ones exhibited on this thread.

I'm not sure you can qualify that remark.
I think most rational people are trying to highlight that whilst radical acts are carried out in the name of Islam, they certainly don't represent the whole of the Islamic community which is easily forgotten at times like this.
Was there sheer hatred for catholicism during the height of the IRA bombing campaign?
The asymmetrical war is against radical evil people not Islam. |

I agree, but the wider public didn't identify all catholics as a threat(even those who served there can identify with certain areas where troops had a fairly good rapport?).
By creating a divide and mistrust towards the Islamic community, the nut jobs are succeeding. Besides they'd find another cause soon enough anyway? A lot of their hatred is based on ideology, not a strategic objective. |

I rarely feel any real sentiment to these sort of things. I feel the usual shock and disgust and feel sorrow for those affected.
The bombing last night has left me close to tears all day. I think its the fact that children were targeted. Its really upset me that anyone is so inhumane as to have planned such a thing. Those poor kids and their families, my heart really goes out to those hurt and killed.
