Who do you think will be responsible for the end of the world?
The world will have many people involved in its demise but who will be bastard to set the wheels in motion? Kim Jong Ill ((North Korean)? Ali Khamenei,(Iran)? Ayman al-Zawahiri (Leader of Al-Qaeda)? or that black dude in the whitehouse? Or maybe someone else?

Even if we had nuclear war, I think we'd eventually, given enough time, crawl back to our original positions. To truly kill of human civilisation you'd need an external effect like an asteroid hitting the earth or something like that. We've always had wars and economic crisis. We've always overcome them. |

Well man has committed genocidal on many occasions before. Many native tribes in America no longer exist so i wouldn't count on it. It would only take 30 or 40 warheads to be launched and thats it we would be gone.  |

i don't believe we will see another war on the scale of WW1 or WW2 but the world is in a constant state of war to some degree
with the exception of certain flashpoints, the wars these days are fought behind closed doors in governmental buildings, financial insitutions, defence businesses and so on.
the attrition is therefore far less noticeable to the man in the street. |

I think we're yet to see a nuke's true devastation but it will happen. A rogue state will set one off or maybe an industrial accident will cause one to explode. That's when I think man will finally see what he's created and dismantle them, it's just a shame that thousands will die before that happens.
As for the destruction of the planet; only the Sun can destroy the Earth when it goes supernova in approx 5bn years time. An asteroid could hit us but it won't obliterate the planet. We may wipe ourselves out at some point but the planet will survive anything man can throw at it. |

End of the world. This is a question of physics and I believe it will be due to the sun "going out".
If you are talking end of humankind, now that is another matter.
Bear in mind that we have not been dominant for that long compared to other species. Despite our apparent intelligence we don't seem to be making the unified humanitarian decisions and it is unlikely that we will in, in my opinion, last that much longer as disease and infection is likely to decimate us within a few hundred years. |

The powers that be know its coming and have known for sometime.
We are all but sheep to the shepherds and would a sheep rise against the Shepard i think not.
Soon the big picture will come clear to all.
Remember its not the end of the world we are facing its the evolution of mankind, the time when we all realize that fighting,war,hate,and greed can be removed from human nature and as a species we can all move forward and just learn to love each other .

Andromeda.
...will collide with our galaxy, The Milky Way, in approximately 3bn years time. The two galaxies are locked together in a cosmic dance that is focring them together at a rate of 500,000km/hour and they are around 2.2m light years apart at the moment.
I think we'll be ok for a little while yet to come. |

We should have more faith in ourselves. Man has done some unspeakable evils but we've also accomplished some amazing things too. We can cut out a malignant tumour from someone's brain while they are still awake and talking, and we can perform microsurgery on a baby while it is still inside it's mother's womb.
Things have a way of working themselves out eventually and there will come a time in man's history where war and famine will be consigned to the past. |
