I'm on here less and less due to having found what I'm looking for maybe that is the reason why I've come to _iew fabs forum as of late as a den of negativity .
anyone else finding the forums less and less appealing of late due to many thinly hidden nasty and in some cases not so thinly hidden nasty posts ....? |

I think it's a forum. Not either of those descriptions. People make it what they want it to be generally.
I do think it goes through cycles of being particularly bitchy and then sycophantic but meh.
Do you think you add to the positivity or help create the den of negativity OP? |

I enjoy the forums and think the positivity and negativity varies from thread to thread.
A thread started with a bleak or negative outlook tends to attract and breed that negativity.
I don't take the forums particularly seriously though. Perhaps if I did, I would have a different _iew of their content. |

I think that sometimes things dont come across well via text and a comment can be misconstrued and it quickly escalates and causes tension. There are also people who come here to antagonize.
On the other hand there are so many more funny and kind and decent people who make the forums worth sticking around for. |

All depends upon who joins... There are some regulars who will send it spiralling and sometimes they're unaware of it...There are those you know will keep it happy and rarely get 'infected' by the negativity. Just avoid certain ones.
I look and posr or look and leave sometimes depending on whose in it and the general mood of the post. |

It has its moments!
I'm not on here very often, only if I'm bored.
I'm generally too busy with work and life to be too bothered by it.
Very occasionally will a thread take my fancy enough to post.
I do love to sit back and watch to see how some turn out. I also like to guess who will post and what they will post, I'm normally pretty good at it  |

I've been in and out the forums now for about ten years. Over time, there have been lots of coming and goings of different people. I remember most, the ones that made me laugh, the ones with an ability to sympathise and the posters with positivity, never any nastiness.
Lately there are more negative posters. The tone overall has gone down and largely it's down to a minority as always.
But I'll keep reflecting to the funnies of old. There have been some brilliant ones over the years.  |

I'm hardly on here of late and I'm not getting involved even when i see the usual suspects spreading a negative vide where there is not one Meli.
I'm responsible for my own words in posts and i take full responsibility for those words
but this is nothing to do with me in general purely a observation that of late there is a nasty negative vibe running through the forum on here in my opinion . |

I hate to say it but I believe the element of negativity and nastiness is ever present. I find that it varies in the level of how prominent it is, but even when it wanes it is never gone completely.
For myself, I do find that my mood affects on how much it let's me notice more negative or happy chipper threads. Although I should imagine you would be wanting to look more to the light hearted content in your current situation rather than dwelling on any of the bitchy sniping stuff.
If I am not feeling positive, I will try and steer clear of it lest I allow myself to become embroiled in a slagging match which would only serve to deepen my mood.
Anywho, It's good to see something positive in you having found what you are looking for OP  |

I'm having a great time in the real world as of late
then I log on to fab and if I'm honest because I'm in such a great frame of mind I see the negativity as it is in stark contrast to my own positive mind set far more than i used to .
a social friend has noticed the same of late and i just wondered have others noticed it to . |

I spend of my time browsing the forums than browsing profiles these days because I've found ehst I'm looking for
It seems to be a mix of threads that make laugh with a few that are plain bitchy/negative
I have observed there ate a few cliques on here but equally you could say that's cause they're just regular forumites who know each other well |

I honestly can't say I notice the changes hugely.
It was only a week or two ago when people were saying how much of a nicer place it is recently than it has been and now that's suddenly changed again.
If anything I often find the faux niceness to be somewhat vomit inducing and I can't read most of it. |

I agree the forum especially the Irish one is plagued by cliques and bitchyness therefore not spending too much time on it ... but I still find what I am looking for |

It's a reflection of life and society I think. A mix of positive and negativity, but mostly somewhere in between.
Some of the threads are sickly sweet, others depressingly negative and I tend to avoid the extremes where possible.
Other threads are just too damn repetitive for me - e.g. the daily snog, fuck, avoid or PM someone you fancy threads - and I mostly avoid them but even so I will dip in now and then if the mood hits me right and participate for a bit!
At the end of the day it's just pixels on a screen for me, nothing to get too worked up or frustrated by! |

I'm in the same boat I'm exclusively topping some special lady i now log on possibly two or three times a week to check up on fab friends maybe post the odd forum topic like this one as a way of passing a hour or two and that's it . |

I must be asleep for more often then I realise then cos I've not noticed any negativity. In saying that tho I do think the forums are rather like classes at school in that there's little groups of people. I like that about the forums I like getting to know you all.

A few years ago, when i spent most of one year looking after my terminally ill husband, I became very reliant on communicating with others via the internet. It served its purpose at the time. This wasn't on Fab I hasten to add, that wouldn't have been appropriate at all. But via other sites including Facebook and messenger, I became quite addicted I suppose. Only just recently I have started to back off both of them by deleting the Aps. I don't miss them. Because I'm lucky enough to have wonderful people in my life and a new job and reality far outweighs anything strangers or friends for that matter, can offer via cold messaging. Maybe that's similar to you OP..... not everyone is as lucky as that, the little green arrow actually shows some rather vulnerable souls behind the negativity you talk about |

Oh I've got the best of both worlds A really good friend and amazing sex but we're not exclusive we like clubs/meeting others too

I think the lounge dynamic has suffered since politics was given its own forum..
I also think a lot of former long term lounge regulars have either left the site or reduced their forum participation...
I guess newbies have every right to reprise thread topics that are maybe fresh to them and I'm sure they are enjoying that interaction with other members...

If you've been around for a very long time, you've doubtless seen the cycles that fab and the forum go through. There's been some little spikes of negativity recently but I avoid that sort of thing, I don't focus on it.

I don't think it's particularly negative. It is a forum, after all. I'd suggest not coming on the forums if you're noticing a stark contrast to your everyday life. |
