Do we have any on here. My daughter is a fantastic artist and wants to try it. I've looked on line and the kits seem quite reasonable price wise but my question is is getting her a kit the best way to get her started. Any advice from people in the know much appreciated. If you'd rather pm me that's fine. Thanks all |

get her a book first, with all the medical advice as well as practical tattooing advice. you can cause some damage to nerves and skin if you don't know what you're doing. also she'll need to know how to set up a gun (and sterilise that).
tattooing is not exactly like drawing also, you can't rub anything out. but a good artist, if they can also tattoo, will make a good tattooist.
i don't believe you have to become an apprentice though, so long as you get the info from proper tattooists and there are plenty on youtube also who give this advice. |

I personally wouldn't just buy her a kit. Have you ever watched Tattoo Fixers and the disasters that have occurred at the hands of amateur tattoo artists? It's a skill and I'd want to know any artist I was seeing had trained properly. |

That's why she won't be tattooing anyone. If I was 100% about how mature she was I'd not be thinking it |

My tattoo artist started learning when she was about 16. I think said her dad was a tattoo artist and she was learning from him. She wasn't allowed to tattoo anyone until she was 18 though but could go in an observe. |

i actually did my first tattoo without training, set up my gun by looking at how one was set up in an advert in a magazine, and luckily did not make a mess of my exes arm, it's actually a good tattoo. but i do know that wasn't that right way to go about it and it was just luck that i didn't make a mess of anything.
the fake skin seem pretty good, i've never used them myself but seen videos of people using them.
i do recommend buying a kit off ebay but the cheap ones from china seem to not be any good, the voltage can be rubbish and so the ink won't go in properly. so without even knowing if your kit is any good or not can make a huge difference to whether the tattoo itself will be. if the kit isn't any good your tattoo also won't be. also she'll need to know what needles do what, what volt to use them at and this can be a little bit experimenting but some guidance also will help.
i know i still have my manual round here but fuck knows where it is, gonna go look in a couple of obvious places then give up... |

I had thought of that but think you have to be 18 to go in
No you have to be 18 to have a tattoo but it is perfectly legal to enter a tattooists studio under that age"
Well I didn't know that nice 1 |

Some places take on apprentices so ask around. Also pigs skin is the closest thing to use to practice on before you practice on humans. So I suggest you get yourself a babe.
