I've seen blues singer Robert Cray a fair few times, him and his band are always absolutely outstanding and he has the kindest personality
I've seen Rancid a few times, bit of a change from Robert Cray, went a few years ago when I was pregnant and just soaked the music up, the atmosphere is always awesome, the people were lovely and kept me and the bump safe from over enthusiastic dancers My son's almost 4 now and absolutely loves dancing round to Rancid! |

Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, ACDC, Whitesnake, Queen, Pavarotti, Genesis, Steely Dan, Hall and Oats, Diana Ross, Dione Warwick, Gregory Porter, Steve Vai, Free and many more, quite an eclectic mix of musical likes really.

Me too although I can't remember half of the people I've seen by the time I get back home. Seeing pulp and radio heads secret gigs at Glastonbury the other year were pretty big highlights though. |

Without a doubt my two best were on consecutive nights - Saturday Dublin and Sunday Belfast to see Biffy Clyro last year when I got on the barrier each time. Though Belfast slightly edged it because I was centre stage |

There and to the left a bit |
So so many...from my first ever gig (Madness Hemel Hempstead, Nov 81), to seeing them play the back room of their spiritual home the Dublin Castle a few years ago, or being privileged to be invited to their secret album launch gig in a small bar. Or being front row for Biffy Clyro in Belfast, or some epic Muse gigs, or being in the inner circle for U2 on their 360 tour....just can't pick one |

Hey man! Welcome!
I have three.
The first time I saw a local crazy brass and drums jazz band called Dakhla. I actually cried a little at that one because I was so blown away.
Vulfpeck last year in London. Such a fun gig. And they had grins on their faces the whole time.
Snarky Puppy a couple of weeks ago in Cheltenham. 9 Piece fusion jazz band. Had my jaw on the floor from beginning to end.
Having people sing along to our tunes at gigs is pretty cool too! ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

That would have to be the concert I should never have been at but a client knew the promoter and I was given tickets last minute. It was at an almost empty MEN arena which was a shame. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular despite having his latest CD at the time. Then Shaggy took to the stage with friends from the album. It was electric from start to finish, could have lived without being dragged up on stage but can't complain when it was free ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

Then there was my first concert when I was 16 which will always be special. It was a treat for getting through my GCSEs. It was also the band's very first concert as a warm up to their forthcoming tour. It was all ripped jeans and Grolsch bottle tops, yes you guessed it Bros. Nothing can beat your first concert, well apart from Shaggy ![](/icons/s/redface.gif) |

I've been very lucky to go to tons of great gigs
Top would be Live Aid I'd say.
Some other memorable ones were Led Zep, ACDC, Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Bowie, Stones, Bon Jovi, Motorhead, Hawkwind ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

I have been to hundreds, if not thousands of gigs over the last 30 years so picking highlights is tough, not helped by much of the late 80s and 90s now being a very blurred memory! So my memories are recent ones because they're clearer in my mind.
Recent highlights include Levellers at The Water Rats in London last year as I never thought I;d see them in such a small venue. Frank Turner doing Demons at Ally pally days after Nick Alexander was murdered at the Bataclan in Paris and the whole venue being silent, totally haunting. Every Carter gig since they reformed in 2007 nut particularly the secret one at King Tuts. Adam Ant's first comeback gig at Scala a few years back now.
Older memories, I'm glad I saw Nirvana (underwhelming) and Jane's Addiction (amazing) back in the day. Plus the Manics in the days Richie was still in the band but the standout is The Wonder Stuff, March 89 the day my love of music began |

Same when we saw em at Leeds in 2001 I think it was, not a bad set though.
On the Sunday saw sum 41 and ended up losing my shirts in the mosh pit |

First concert was The Alarm at the Birmingham Powerhouse which will always be a fond memory
Concert I'm glad I went to was Stone Roses at Spike Island , can't remember a great deal about it
Best concert for me tho was Paul Weller 2002 in Hyde Park , just a great time in my life watching my favourite artist in the sunshine |

Now the worst concert I've ever had the misfortune to be at wasn't by choice. This was one of those things you do for your kids to give them an experience that will stay with them forever. I've been to a lot of concerts but this was bad in epic proportions. It was like a few mates had turned up and decided to have a bit of a session. One was "ill", need I say more as to why, it was well publicised at the time. I don't know who was more disappointed my daughter or I, it was a shambles and they were supposed to be the biggest sellling boy band at the time. Thankfully I only paid half of the £300 the tickets should have been and that was bad enough. I'll keep you in suspense no longer One Direction!!! ![](/icons/s/2/eh.gif) |

2 really stand out...
Daft Punk at wireless festival in Leeds in 2006 (I think). Not a huge fan of their albums but live they were astonishing. Sound, visuals, crowd atmosphere... all perfect. Felt like I'd been beamed into the future.
The Icarus Line in Gullivers pub in Manchester 2013. Just THE most ferocious rock n roll band fronted by the coolest, most possessed frontman I've ever seen live. Only 50/60 people there, most of which couldn't have cared less. Amazing, electrifying show though. |

Definitely Rage Against the Machine back in Reading 2008, before they hit the stage I had a group of girls in front of me asking me and my mate not to barge into them (clearly inexperienced festivals noobs) if things get crazy with the crowds, soon as the first chord stuck, Whoosh! The masses of crowd just shunted forwards, lost my mate instantly and the girls in front just got annihilated! ha. They were absolutely outstanding live. |

Some great stuff there... would give anything to have seen prime Janes Addiction. Was lucky enough to see Richey-era manics a couple of times but I honestly think they're a better live band now. Saw Adam Ant on his comeback tour, always loved the man and his music. It was emotional seeing him in good health and in such great form. |

Ma first ever gig was AC/DC at the Queens Hall, Derby in '77. The next was Led Zep at Knebworth in '79, have also seen Queen and Deep Purple there in the '80s.
Went to every Monsters of Rock and a few Download festivals as well, so have seen most of the "Old School" rock bands of that era.
Have been to many others as well, but one that really sticks out in ma mind though is Jean Michel Jarre at the Olympic Stadium, Barcelona in '93

I don't know who was more disappointed my daughter or I, it was a shambles and they were supposed to be the biggest sellling boy band at the time. Thankfully I only paid half of the £300 the tickets should have been and that was bad enough. I'll keep you in suspense no longer One Direction!!!
Something worse than seeing Shaggy
Being shagged by Shaggy, maybe (while he sings)?

Mine is quiet topical... Chris Cornell last year in Birmingham... was totally blown away by how good he was live... sounded just like he does on his CDs... RIP Chris.. ???? |

I saw the Manic Street Preachers in Norwich I think when Richie was in the band. I ended up sitting next to him afterwards, this was in the really early days. I wish I remembered more about it, must of been out of it |

So many gigs to consider, but taking a sideways step, one was very memorable...
We had stuck around after the gig and some of the band were hanging around the bar.
Becky was wearing a very short skirt and no knickers and started flashing me from across the bar. It got wilder and wilder until her knees were unable to hear each other...
This went on for 10 minutes or so, when the whole band came over and sat with us.
We didn't understand why until a smiling bouncer came up to us when we left and explained that Becky had been sat opposite a large mirror and the whole thing had been witnessed by half the people in the bar.
Fair made us laugh...!!
PS. Sorry to lower the tone of an interesting thread...

Zz Top Deer Creek Indianapolis in 1995.
Concert was probably average..but had seats above the walkway with waitress service for drinks. Feet up on the railings drinking beer.
There was also a whole hillside behind, where folks were on travel blankets, watching on a big screen.
Finally, no queing to get out of the car park and so..straight home afterwards with no delays.
Heaven..compared to any major gig in the UK.

Gil Scott-Heron at the Festival Hall a year before he died.
Just him and a Fender Rhodes keyboard for the first half. Those wonderful chords, soulful voice and powerful, principled words.
Often wonder what he'd write about Drumpf ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Stevie Wonder at the Manchester Arena. He was incredible and played almost the whole of what I think is his best album, Innervisions, back to back. It was almost surreal to see such a legend live. |

christ, no idea now, i work that many gigs and have for years but r.e.m at the isle of wight festival 2005 springs to mind. i was indifferent before seeing them and loved every second of their set. i've liked other sets from other people just as much before and indeed since but i tend to expect to like them, i didn't expect to like r.e.m that much, glad i watched 'em now ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

I'm pretty certain it was. I remember going to see them at the Barrel Organ and the gig was cancelled "due to the guitarist injuring his arm", and then getting the NME the following week and seeing how he;d carved 4REAL in to his arm! ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

Best gig I paid to see, was Stevie Wonder.
I work as a barman at festivals and got to see UB40 and Elton John last year. Both were amazing, especially Elton John. Which surprised me, because I only really like his song Benny and the Jets. |
